Feeder Cups
Cricks in the deep one ,Worms in the shallow one ,little bit of screen glued to the back of the feeder cup for the insects to climb up and present themselves ,he sees them he eats them.
I have used ground up dog and cat food as a dry mix for my crickets and dubia and they seem to love the dry cat food over the dry dog food, it does keep them alive and happy ,but I always take the ones I intend to feed my Cham out and put them in another container (death row) with some healthy...
Diameter wise it changes they are like a slinky ,when hunting or on the move they stretch out and get real skinny , but when at rest they bunch up and get fat like a little piggy , and when basking they can look flat like a frying pan, I have a picture of mine basking flat on the ground and he...
When I got my little 6 week old veiled it had RI pretty bad and I too was afraid a trip to the Vet would be too much ,so I got Reptivite (w/D3) as I use plain Calcium, when I got a does of reptivite in him the RI cleared up within a week, Prayer also helps
Pothos seem to thrive , but they work best hung so the vines hang down, I use a file folder holder slightly modified for drainage and hang in the back of the cage, it leaves the bottom empty for easy cleaning. Shefflera also does pretty well with the available light. I have found that you need...
He is a beauty ,I got my first panther a month ago (ambilobe) he is 4 months old has had two sheds and color is beautiful. He is also quick and very feisty. Yesterday he came out of his cage for the first time willingly ,and ate 3 crickets from my hand. He took about a month to come around but...
You are more knowledgeable than I , Oh wise Psychobunny ,but my educated guess is that he craves natural sunlight, and wants to get closer to it. I would bet that the behavior would continue regardless. does he like to go outside?
This is just an introduction to the community of my 4 month Ambilobe Panther "Roy". I purchased him from One of the site sponsors "The Panther Company" and could not be more pleased , he is Beautiful and feisty , does not like coming out of his cage , but when you get him out he lights up like a...
He will escape as constructed , staple every inch or so on the mesh ,and sew up the seam with a strong string, to keep the lizard in. Your feeders most crickets and all worms will escape through that mesh. It may suffice temporarily but be prepared to have some bugs running around your house.
Current set-up
4 month Ambilobe "Roy" on the left ,7 month old veiled "Buddy" on the right, Mist king feeds both cages , Combination of live and fake plants, Pothos and Shefflera.
Buddy's big boy cage is under construction in the garage, hope to finish in the next couple days.
You MUST have a back up individual to care for your animal if you go out of town for even a couple of days , a sibling or extended family or neighbor, someone who is not squeamish about the handling of insect feeders. Get a firm commitment from them before you take the plunge , I have a 15 year...
I use honey to feed my flies ,I get a hatch every 3 or 4 days , I dust them with the supplements between the freezer and the cage ,whatever is due, calcium or the reptivite, it is a good way to insure that they get their vitamins every two weeks because the flies don't get the dust misted off of...
Keep the Cham in your possession, in the interest of keeping peace in the Family ,always refer to it as "his" Cham which you are helping to take care of. I would allow him supervised visitation in which he " Brings his own feeders" not relying on uncle bunny to provide. Have him provide and do...
I would also say about 4 months , My Female veiled at about 5 months started to grow spurs on the back feet , turned out to be a male. So keep an eye for little nubbins on the back heel, I had already made an egg laying bin that now I won't be needing. Check the husbandry section about egg...
Uncle Miltons bug Vac 12 bucks at Amazon ,best chameleon tool I ever bought, use it for everything.. ,escapees, moving crickets to/from supplement cup, catching the uneaten insects to put back on death row, catching flies etc.. at 12 cents a piece at the pet store not smashing the crickets pays...
