    Halogen neodymium ?

honestly, it really doesn't matter. any/all incandescent bulbs will suffice, or these halogen bulbs will too. I believe the difference is the halogen bulbs put out MORE heat (and some of them are actually waterproof/resistant for turtle tanks). However, ultimately, it does not matter...

My bluebar panther chameleon keeps falling and isn't eating.

don't try to force feed, it will only make matters worse...force feeding should be left for an absolute last ditch situation I would agree that she is looking quite dehydrated. Based on your description of her poo, Snake's guess at a parasite is probably a good one. Whatever is causing the...

New solar meter arrived!! And readings

Thanks for posting these :) I am somewhat confused by your numbers though....I was under the impression that a tube light should generally give off smaller numbers than a spot light due to the distribution of light in the bulb (same lumens put out, but in a much wider area) but your 3 month old...

    ficus free range

where are you getting the brown leaves? All in one place/side or sporadically throughout the plant? the occasional dead leaf is natural and you can just prune them away. if an excess number are forming in one generalized location, I would check for signs of excess heat also are they...

LR Openair Mesh Vivariums (How do they compare to exo flex's?)

I got one of these for free a while back....they are "ok" at best. The top has no support so you have to put your lights along the corner (which is the only place the bars go. Also, the bars break relatively easily. I've had 2 of my connector points break from repeated take-down/set-ups...

Setup Help Needed for Baby (teeny) veiled

I'm unaware of nutrobal so I can't comment, but everything else looks good. Most people suggest the use of screen cages for better ventilation but glass works fine (and is better if you live somewhere cold/dry). However, one caution to be watchful for is that they sometimes get...

    Chameleon Ran off Hand

their reaction tends to be to "drop" if they feel really threatened and they can take a fair fall, so you probably just scared him on accident somehow

I made a caresheet! Need critics!!

I haven't had a jacksons, but I think you have some great info here. My only suggestion would be to format it a little bit (so it looks more like a form) and include really specific stuff like... -basking temp, nighttime temps, temp gradient -similarly you have the info about...

Possible burn on my panther :(

I second the suggestion of a Ceramic Heat Emitter if your night temperatures are 50F or lower. CHE's put out heat but NO light so they are perfect for nighttime use without disturbing them :) As for the spot, are the scales harder on the discoloration then around it?

    Too much time basking

those analog stick on thermometers are worthless in my experience....the error in their readings can be 5-10 degrees or more at times a good point and shoot digitial thermometer can be bought under $20 nowadays and is a GREAT investment. you may find your temps aren't what you thought after...

    New plant seeds just ordered

seeds? its going to take awhile to get them of any useful size not familiar with the vine, but things like creeping fig can be bought at your local nursery for $8 for a decent sized plant (and they grow fast) your plant choices seem fine, but seeds take a long time before they are viable for...

    Panther Setup

I think a simple solution for aesthetics would be to visually cover up the lower half of your cage with something so it is not visible :) like chamfan said, your guy will rarely be down there anyway so a visual block of the planters may give the aesthetic boost you are looking for...

Are normal house lightbulbs alright for basking?

yep you should be using household bulbs, they are pretty much identical to those reptile bulbs except way cheaper :D @Dez: they are phasing them out for household use, but you can still buy them (it is not illegal to continue selling those bulbs) so I'm sure we can find them....they just might...

    UVB monitoring idea

UV is a very wide band.....do the beads react to UVB specifically? If they are reacting to UVA, UVC, or otherwise, it is not telling you anything based on the price and description on the website, unfortunately I would say likely no....but very creative idea :)

Maybe A Silly Question About 6500k Plant Lights

Well I apologize then, I didn't (and don't in hindsight) understand what you were originally asking...I'm not trying to start anything but you do seem very angry at me... ?? It is not a "temperature" (or "color") of light; the two words combined are one term "color temperature". It is a...
