Sounds like you're cooking your cham :)
When chams open their mouths usually thats a sign it's too hot for them, so they open their mouths to regulate their body temperatures. It's completely normal so don't worry just be sure his basking hotspots are not over 90 degrees. Also have multiple...
My best advice would to be getting a fecal test for parasites and a check up ASAP. Not eating and sleeping during the day (Assuming he's sleeping since you mentioned his tail being curled up) are signs of illness. Parasites play a big role with these symtoms.
A check up will allow your vet to...
Ferret beat me to it! haha
Discharge huh? That sounds like a possible answer. I'm sure thats what is was then if you've experienced it too. Were the meds orally? or eye drops?
You got that right, def don't want anymore problems lol...
Thanks for helping me out Ferret! Glad you're here...
Thats a bummer...
Is your fixture a High-Output fixture? If not, thats your problem :)
Arcadia's require high-output lighting fixtures hence the name "T5-HO 22" 6% Arcadia..." I would suggest you picking up a double fixture so you can have a 5000k or 6500k grow light also...
My old exto-terra fixture had the same exact problem...May be the fixture then.
Try getting a new fixture from petco or something, test the bulb out to see if it's the bulb or fixture. If it's the fixture, keep it. Bulb, return it.
Recently I picked up a new panther cham and he had a huge problem with one of his eyes...
I knew this before I got him and figured I could help the little guy out. Just needa alittle TLC.
And turns out, I did exactly that!
I ended up popping a clear lima-bean looking thing out of one...
Rule of thumb with chams is never feed anything larger than the width of their heads. *EDIT- You can feed large praying mantis, katydids, moths, hornworms, silkworms, dubia's, etc but your cham has to be big enough to handle these insects. Probably around 7-8 months is when you can introduce...
Yeah take a few pics if you can. Usually Gular Edema looks like your Cham has man boobs or a swollen neck when he's resting. Fired up, you can't really tell. All chams have a lump when they're fired up because the lump is their tongue bone (forgot exact name)
Also once Gular Edema is present...
Here's a hilarious video from the snake venom guy showing his Nosy Faly & looks to be a Red bar Ambanja?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KT7m3LoMPrI
Dude is something else lol...
His faly looks amazing, hopefully my new faly turns out like his!
Be careful with liquid calcium...too much of it can be toxic and cause gular edema and a bunch of other problems. Usually you only use liquid calcium if your cham is sick and off his supplements for a long period of time due to not eating. With that, you only give them 1-2 drops per a week. Just...
To everyone i'm replying to, sorry it's so late! Been super busy with school...Midterms are coming up
I've seen this a few times aswell, I always wanted to try it but i'm having my cham get his eyes flushed/vit-a shot so it won't be needed.
Thats what i figured...Just curious...
Good thing you caught it in time...
You may want to throw some neosporin on it for the time being? Just to be sure it doesn't get infected/bacteria.
keep us posted
I def make sure my gutload is on point. I Think i'll try the repashy and maybe miner-all.
Thanks!
True, I was just curious to how you guys keep your chams in great shape :)
I've noticed since i've become a member allot of owners run into eye issues. I recently picked up a new cham...
I've been wanting to pick up the olloclip for the iPhone 5...Figured quality wise is just as good as a DSLR, But if you want to view your photo high res on a big canvas then the DSLR is the way to go.
But you can never go wrong with an iPhone. Even photographers always say iphones are great...
Thats good to know, So you've had zero problems using the bug burger as a "dry" gutload? I was just weary of using it like that thinking it may cause the crickets to become dehydrated since the bug burger absorbs water/expands. But i've seen allot of others use it dry, just never bothered with it.
That looks like a URI.
Here's a great thread to read over and also tells you how to care for a URI.
