    Picky eaters?

Spike has always been on the finicky side--I have never been able to get him to eat any fruit/veggies unless he accidentally eats it while getting a bug! Anyway, I have a veiled chameleon with a guessed age of 4-5 years. Adopted him a year ago from pretty deplorable conditions and he has done...

    Chameleon too close to light/heat

Hi, guys--just wondering what I should do about my cham constantly getting too close to the light for his basking spot and his CHE. We have an extra-large reptibreeze and temps are 90+ directly under the light (where it rests on the screen). It is only 43 watt. His basking spot, a foot or so...

    Looking good?

You definitely need more plants! They feel more secure when they can be hidden. It looks more like a department store display than a habitat. Get a few big potted plants for the bottom at the very least :)

    What are your chameleons names?

Ours is named Spike as well! He technically belongs to my ten year-old, but I've been managing the husbandry piece. I was afraid he would name him something really ridiculous, but Spike I like.

Kilo the Veiled Chameleons 'Dark Patches' LOOK!

Pretty boy! He looks pretty similar to my guy in his pattern. I still haven't gotten much of a grasp on what my cham likes temperature-wise but I think I'm at a good spot now. I have a 65-watt halogen bulb for his basking spot and a CHE which maxes at 100w but I have on a dimmer switch down...

Friend won't listen to me about his chameleon

The problem is that the people we think are the "professionals" are just teenagers punching a register at a mom and pop store. At our local pet shop the only calcium supplement they even had was reptivite with D3, and when I went somewhere else searching for just plain calcium I found the same...

Advice on heating gradient/acclimation to cage

Trimmed my palm, moved some branches around, hung my pothos from one of my climbing vine things. Bought some more fake vines and plants--we have a willow in back that just loves to drop sticks but everything is buried under inches of snow right now unfortunately. UV light is getting through...

    Reptibreeze XL

I just got an XL myself and was worried about temperature control but I was just finally able to accurately check temps today and they were WAYYYY higher than I thought they would be. I don't have a misting system, just spray by hand and have a dripper for water which I aim so that the drips...

Advice on heating gradient/acclimation to cage

Just a Safeway brand 65 watt floodlight. I have like four other bulbs I tried before this one--he definitely didn't like the incandescent or the infrared that the pet shop associate talked me into. I have a couple other variety of just housebulbs too. Lemme see--my gauge is a zoomed. Trying to...

Advice on heating gradient/acclimation to cage

Just using a dual monitor thermometer/hydrometer that doesn't do instant checks so I basically have to balance it somewhere and leave it for ten minutes or so, then come back and hope it's stayed in the place where I'm trying to measure the temp. Temp in the bottom of the cage is around 62.

Advice on heating gradient/acclimation to cage

Hi, all--I have a re-homed 2 or 3 year-old (his owner wasn't sure) veiled chameleon (Spike) who has spent his entire life in a drab, empty 30-gallon glass terrarium. We just got him set up with a lovely 4-foot tall and 2x2 wxd mesh cage. We have lots of plants in there and I'm wondering if...

PLEASE tell me what's right or wrong

Not trying to hijack, but I'm having similar heating issues with my Cham and I'm spending an inordinate amount of time/money thinking about and buying light bulbs. I got him a 100 watt daylight basking bulb when I first got him but before I had bought a thermometer. He loved it and was in his...

    JoJo passed away.

I am new to the forums and to chameleons, so I don't know JoJo's story yet...but I am so sorry to hear that you lost her. :(

    Pascal's Christmas present!

His prior owner said he was "2 or 3" but she didn't seem sure. I jumped at buying him without really realizing what high-need creatures they were, but so far we are having a lot of fun getting everything nice for him! I'm chewing on the idea of having a bone scan for him since the care...

What is your chameleons name?! :p

My son named the chameleon (because it's technically his, I just pay for everything, LOL). His name is Spike :)

    Pascal's Christmas present!

Our chameleon was a Christmas present for my ten year-old. I found out after we bought him that his needs were MUCH more extensive than his prior owner had been meeting. I'm surprised that he seems to be as healthy as he is. He's quite large and has lived his whole life in a glass tank that I...
