A heartbreaking end
Despite his valiant effort and the appearance that he was getting better, Gonzo couldn't pull through and passed away yesterday despite the medication.
Thank you all for your help and support.
That's a really interesting thought, I am the only one who cares for him, he actually despises my husband and will try and bite him (LOL..I know, I shouldn't laugh but it's hysterical). But it's possible, so I'll get him to give it a try.
No windows downstairs, and the basking temp is right now. He doesn't sit with his mouth open at all.
Yes, I've used the Repti-glo brand uvb bulbs since I got him.
His UV bulb is brand new, just bought it less then a month ago. I haven't put him in the shower, he hates getting water sprayed on him but it might help so I'll try it tonight.
Thanks :)
I've tried hand feeding him but to no use. He locks his mouth shut tight and I don't want to risk hurting him prying his mouth open. He flails around when I tried.
As for something changing, the only thing that's happened was he had to be relocated downstairs about 4 months ago. He use...
When he goes down into the water, he's very responsive, he's wondering around the little bit of water and then climbs back up to the top.
I've put a fake vine in to fill it a bit more, but he seems to prefer the open spaces, and tends to spiderman it around the tree more then go inside. Will...
He's a male, at least from everything I've read. Am I wrong? He's never shown signs of needing to lay eggs.
Here is a new photo of him (just took it).
and this is his home
Note that he's puffed up at me (at least that's the same). He's not a handleable cham. but looks ok...
I purchased him in the summer of last year, pretty sure it was July.
I've kept the humidity slightly higher since he hasn't shed in so long, I thought it might help.
Feeding wise, I tend to feed him when he runs out, so usually it's every two days or so, just now, it hasn't been in 2...
Chameleon Info:
* Your Chameleon - Male Veiled Chameleon, 1 year old, purchased from Petsmart.
* Handling - Minimal
* Feeding - Crickets & Dubia Roaches, as well as kale & he normally eats the hibiscus' leaves. Crickets are free running, roaches are in a feeding cup. I give him about 6...
I agree, a 40-60 watt bulb for the basking site is what you need. I'd say put a large plant in the middle of it. I'd suggest an alternative to the Pothos would be a hibiscus. The flowers are beautiful and veileds love to eat it (at least my baby male does). Fill the cage with foliage and...
Ack! I despise ants....6 legged demons. We've battled carpenter ants. Big mothers that have slaughtered zillions of crickets on me. I found the best way to deal with them is to do the same as Lizard Lover. Give them a moat. I have a large, shallow rubbermaid with a bit of water. I just...

Wonderful, he loves it. We ended up finding a big hibiscus tree on sale for $15 at Home Depot that fills the whole upper part of the cage. Since he's so small I've kept all the vines and plants to the top part of the cage. He doesn't get lost that way :)
It was a great suggestion, thanks...
HOORAY!! He's all better. Had it opened up and hunting this morning. Thanks for all your help everyone, the warm mist did this trick (or he got it out himself, don't know).
No they are different. Silkworm chow is mulberry based and Hornworms have a synthetic chow made to simulate tomato plant leaves (their natural food) but without the toxic results.
I know, isn't he adorable! He'll bite your face off though if he gets a chance. LOL.
I don't have substrate. If there's something in it, is there a safe way to rinse it gently?
