Another Dragon, Tianlong

Tianlong came down to the front of his enclosure so I was able to take pictures of him. He posed for five pictures before he started to shrink away (last picture).

He is good looking. Did you feed them any of the bugs you picked up from me? I always love to hear if they are happy with new foods.

I've been out all day so haven't really looked. I did put some stick bugs in this morning, but I want to keep some to start to raise them so I didn't put in the big ones. I'll try to give them the little snails and see how that works. I'm trying to find a butterfly enclosure for them. The first pet shop I went into said no, they didn't have any, but she knew exactly what I was looking for since her granddaughter had one. Three pet shops, no butterfly houses.

You would laugh your head off at my silk worm disaster this morning. Your silk worms? Yours were all well behaved in a nice neat little pile, all munching away. My day started with me knocking one box of 100 onto the floor and into a cardboard box with packing peanuts.... Frass and silkworms everywhere! It is really, really hard to pick those little things up! They stick to everything except the piece of paper I was using to pick them up with. When I finally got them into their new home, no nice neat little pile. No, they were spread everywhere, all rearing their little heads looking for food.

Glad to see new pics. Along with all the new imports going through ups and downs, I really hope he acclimates to captivity and will contribute to the captive gene pool.

Oh No! haha wow silk worm mess. Yeah I fed mine 3 times today to keep them eating and happy.

you may need to get the butterfly house online. Both places i have gotten them from are showing out of stock right now though.

You can use a small screen cage in the mean time, just be sure there arent any cracks they can get through. or use a plastic container and put screen over the top for now. I dont think I gave you any tiny nymphs that can get through regular screen so you could improvise until you find something better. I think Cheryl and Laurie both keep their sticks in regular screen cages so maybe ask them how they set them up too. Although Cheryl is likely busy with Elliot being sicks so maybe ask Laurie or Jann as they both use screen cages I believe.

I ordered two butterfly cages from someplace in Houston. Hopefully I'll get them early next week. I'll sort something out. I guess I'll just be keeping a few of the big ones. Or, I might feed them all and come back for more!

It was a disaster. Bugs don't bother me, but these silk worms are creepy. They have big angry heads that rear up to bite me on tiny soft bodies. They remind me of something from a horror movie. If they get upset, they spit out silk so you can't move them.

I'm looking to buy a mulberry tree. I think Texas has two that are native...

We are a sad group when I'm trying to buy trees to feed bugs and you go to Whole Foods to buy dandelion weeds for yours!
