Baby Cuban Knight anole!

That's awesome SYN! Tame Tokays are the best! I just got a HUGE male a couple days ago that is now tame like the other 2 I've got:)

CKanoles are very fast when they want to be, lol! Their heads are really cool looking as adults, large, bony and defined. That's how they got their name, someone thought that because of this they looked Knightly so they named them Knight anoles.

In the 1950's Cuban Knight anoles became established in southern FL. Now you can find them everywhere in the trees if you go there. In the pet trade this is where all Cuban Knight anoles come from because in Cuba where they are native they are a protected species. Every now and then you might see a wild caught one at a petstore or on kingsnake.com. I think there is only one other person in the US besides me that breeds these anoles so finding a captive bred & born one is very difficult. Like I said in my earlier post, these anoles have a bad rep so not many people keep them let alone breed them. This species is soooooo underappreciated it's not funny, lol! If you buy one and want it to be tame and friendly you have to find a baby and raise it yourself. Do not buy a wild caught adult. They are harder to tame and do not adjust well to captivity.

I bought my first one (of my current crew) almost 5 years ago in OH at a petshop. She was a very little baby and I knew it was rare to find a baby so I snatched her up! Her name is Izzy. A month later at the same petshop I saw another little baby so I snatched it up too and named it Godfather. Last year here CO where I live now I walk in a petstore and see this half grown female in with 2 large males both at least 20-22 inches long. She was extremely stressed out, hiding and looked really thin(she had shut down). I just had to take her home so I bought her and named her Sam. Shortly after this I wanted to get Sam a buddy so I called this herp supplier in FL and had them catch me a baby Ckanole and ship it to me. His name is Bart. Bart is the youngest of my crew and is probably around 8-9 months old if I had to guess. He was really tiny when I got him:) Bart has a very big personality and thinks he owns the place. Always doing head bobs and throat fan displays for us. He also for some reason only likes my husband! He will let the rest of us hold him but when he sees my husband he has to leap on him and never wants to come off him. Really weird because my hubby is not an animal person.

Funny story i had a female cuban knight anole, ive had her a good 6 months she must have been pregnant or something because i woke up to a little lizard running around in the cage
