Being harassed by telemarketer

What can I do about this? It's someone trying to sell insurance and this guy is really rude. I have tried calling back and talking to a manager, but it routes right to him. He keeps calling me to yell and cuss at me and won't stop. I honestly can't believe this is happening, as I thought they would be in a call center where people, like managers, can hear them. Apparently this guy is not worried about that.

Just to clarify...I didn't do anything to make him mad. All I did was tell him that he had the wrong # and he proceeded to call me a liar. This is why I initially asked for the manager. Why does it even matter if it's the wrong # or not when he's just trying to sell something?

He called you a liar?!?! Lol.. Yet he's the. One who called you. Well I can't do you any good... I'm on a "Do Not Call" list through my carrier so they don't even have access to my number.

The worst part is that he's calling my cell phone! I didn't know they called cell phones. I thought it was just home phones.

You can thank the government for allowing telemarketers to call your cell phone. They lifted the mobile ban against telemarketers a few years go and you have to put your number on a do not call list, I'd either call your cellphone carrier to ask what to do, or contact your local police department because this is going beyond annoying and is now harassment that he can be charged for!

Hi Molly, all you have to say is " Take me off your list" By law they have to remove you from the calling list. Hope that helps.

Shouldn't have lied to him.:D That's what probably made him mad. Just say you're not interested and would appreciate not being called again. You seem to be going after trouble to justify your wrong, having lied to him.
Don't answer if they call back. Not worth the minutes or the hassle.

As a rule, I ignore unknown numbers, if it's important they can leave a message! but I know where you coming from, the same guy has been phoning me for a month, claiming I'm owed a refund for unfair bank charges...they are cold-calling cos I got a short-term loan about 5 years ago & so I show up on their system. There's this whole thing in the UK about payment protection insurance- apparently banks were wrong to sell this to people with loans & have to repay it, providing a legal team can process your case - so unfortunately, cold-callers from legal departments have taken it apon themselves to everyone & see if they can drum up some business. It's a real pain in the arse!

I have asked to be removed from their list 4 times now. This guy is not just calling when he's at work now, or not just calling for work. He is calling just to yell at me. Asking to be put on the do not call list seems to make it worse. This guy is insane!

Ok. After I threatened him with the police, he seems to have quit calling. Once more call from him, though, and I am posting the #. Promise! I know he lives/works in Broward County, FL.

I really think he just got bored for today. I would say I will be posting his # tomorrow.

Good glad to head he's left ya alone! It's one thing to have a bored day and play around or prank someone if they're gona be cool about it but to harass and to curse at you is stepping major boundaries in my book.

hope he has stopped bugging you.
report to police if he keeps calling - and for sure stop answering

Once upon a time, I kept an airhorn beside my telephone.

I agree! I enjoy joking and playing around with people, but his guy jumped all over me just because I asked him to stop calling me. I am always nice to telemarketers, because I used to work in collections in an out bound call center, so I know how hard their job is. He had no right to attack me like he did, and to keep calling me just to yell and curse? That was rediculous! Tomorrow will be the true test, though. I'm hoping he didn't just stop calling bc he got off work or something!
