Very nice animals in your garden. An excellent example for natural species keeping
Do they have babies in January, like Bradypodion damaranum ?
They are so cool and they let you hold them being wild? or are they yours and you let them live in the garden?
Thanks everyone! I will be taking a few more photos during the course of the week and share them with you guys.
They are pretty much entirely wild and they can be found all over Cape Town. They don't mind being held at all. There is one big male that sometimes fires up and hisses at me, but once he's on my hand he's chilled. (I'll get a pic of him tomorrow - IF I can find him lol)
The other ones will try and make a run for it when you reach out to them (as all chameleons normally do).
Overall they don't really mind being held.
They are awesome creatures and I love them. I would love to keep one (or 5 ) in captivity but It's illegal here in South-Africa.
Who needs to cage them up when you have them running around in your garden!! That is so awesome. Id definitely try to plant things that will attract lots of different insects to try and keep as many around as possible.
Thanks for sharing.
I am so jealous! This is one of my favorite species. I have a cb group myself, and there color is unbelievable. You are so lucky to be able to walk into your backyard and see them living cage free I would love to visit S.A. and see all the Bradypodion in their natural habitat. Its so sad what has happened to the natural environment of B. pumilum. Ive read that much of it has been turned into wine vineyards and housing developments. Im glad they seem to adapt well though.
MORE PICS!
