I went to the vet a while ago and my chameleon had done everything that could be done for him (for a 3 month old panther at least) But i could not get a fecal, Im trying to get a fresh poop but by the time i see it its always to late, Im giving him parasite medicine every week just incase he has them (if you think thats wrong it what the vet said so im srry if it is) and i just wanna know, around how long it would take for them to die.

NEVER do a parasite flush if you don’t even know if he has any parasites, or what kind! The amount of cleaning required depends on the parasite (if he even has any). I would personally stop the meds, but it’s up to you. They can be very harsh on a chameleon’s body

Is there a good way to catch my chameleon well... in the moment? I mostly chill down stairs but hes in my room, the problem is by the time i see the poop its already dried up
You can put a baby monitor on his cage to see if there‘s any fresh ones on the bottom. Checking daily should be fine, though

What medication did your vet give you?
If you are collecting a fecal to take to the vet you can put it in a plastic bag in the fridge to keep the parasite eggs intact for the vet to see for 24-48 hours.
Pinworms can be eliminated if dosed properly in three doses given once weekly.
Other parasites require different medications and dose schedules.

lemme check, metronidazole? they said it would be slightly more than they need but that its because they cant find a smaller dose, they said its so small that this is all they could give it

Metronidazol is used to treat giardia it also has some minor antibiotic properties and can reduce inflammation in the intestines. One side effect I can attest to personally is that it makes you nauseous. I cannot say for sure if it is the same for chameleons but it could be affecting his appetite rather than helping it. I personally wouldn't use it in my chams without a solid reason.

Metronidazole is hard on chameleons and should only be used if the relevant parasite have been confirmed. Eg giardia or other flagellates. It often causes chams to go off food. I’m not a vet, but if it’s not parasites ailing your Cham, adding extra burden to its system with a harsh medication could exacerbate the problem. I just don’t know how to diagnose Protozoan infection without a fecal, so using metro seems premature.

This really helps because soon force feeding him a food mixture wont be enough and every time he is force fed a bug, keep in mind only bugs... He rubs his face on the ground and spits it out. Bugs are just to unappetizing

When you clean the enclosure, aren't they usually in the same area?

AFAIK, youngsters usually 💩 very near their feeding cup. I'd check that area after they leave it to bask, etc.

ya they are normally in the same area but its normally their basking spot, they never go near their feeding cup especially because they wont eat and dont like to
