HELP!!!!! Chameleon acting weird

My 6 month old veiled chameleon is acting really weird lately.
His eating and drinking is fine, he has been dwelling near the bottom of his cage a lot lately and I thought it was pretty weird.
Today my girlfriend held him up to her ear because she felt a rattle when she held him.
She heard a rasping sound on him and when I used a stethoscope I heard something along a heartbeat. My girlfriend says that's his breathing but I'm not sure.
There are no bubbles on his nose, no mucus from his mouth, his colors are wonderful today,
We do plan on taking him to a vet but we need to ease our minds a little.

Here is a pic of him

Just curious, because females of that age will sometimes scale the bottom of their cages to look for a place to lay. So we can rule that out. You should not be able to hear them breathe, so not sure what you are hearing there. Does he point his nose up in the air or anything like that?

Ahh, yea 99.9% sure he's a male,
We heard it kinda by his neck/upper chest area
On his side.
And no he doesn't, unless he's basking.
If he was sick would his colors be dark?
Or weird? He's bright but kinda ashy looking
And when he's at the bottom of the cage
He's dark.
Unless he's on his rock or pothos

I wasn't questioning that you did not know he was male, was just stating that fact about the females and that was the reason I asked about the spurs. Their colors can be dark or light when they are sick so it is hard to say. I would just watch out for mucous, saliva or bubbles forming. If you are truly convinced that he is rattling when he is breathing then I would take him to a vet and have him checked out. If it is confirmed then you could get him some meds if he has the start of a Respiratory Infection before it gets worse.

Thank you :)
We're just a bit worried
But at this time you think he's okay? Like no need for an emergency?

I mean it does not sound like it to me, but I would hate to tell you nothing is wrong and then there is. Just keep close watch on him.

Ok
Thank you:)
We contacted a breeder in fl he said he should be fine
We're still talking him to the vet though to be 100%

Also his shedding is weird
He shed once the whole time we've had him.
And it wasn't a full shed. It was only his chin area
He still has a piece left from that

I'm not sure if he shed and ate it or not
But he has grown a tiny bit since when we got him

If they don't shed off some peaces it usually means the humidity is low...As far as I know they can shed in more section but only when they are older...
I don't want to change subject I'd like to just ask, that will you get him a bigger enclosure?

Yes I will,

Or building him one

Veiled Chameleons actually do make a sub-sonic squeaking sound when threatened or irritated. It’s like a hoot almost. You can’t hear it so much unless you have your ear right up against the chameleon, but you can feel it in your hand when you are holding them. It is thought that it serves as protection against predators. Perhaps this is what your girlfriend heard and felt?
