help, not sure whats wrong with my veiled chameleon

thank you everyone for your helpful suggestions he is my first reptile so its very helpful. Im really hoping he'll pull thru I love him so much :(, i called the reptile store I got him from (they really know their reptiles and have always been really helpful) and he thinks Jose had either his kidney or liver fail on him as there were NO symptoms before his fall, he is doing better this morning, still not walking on his front feet but he is moving them now which is an improvement. I also had a few other questions for everyone, I was wondering if woodchips are good for his cage cuz i was also told that moss is better for him, and what live plants can i use in his cage?

You shouldn't use any substrate. Just the plain floor or line it with paper towel....pothos,ficus, schlefflera(umbrella plant) hibiscuss, are all good plants to use. I am glad he is going a ll better, I hope he pulls through!

When a Chameleon falls, its usually from other health reasons. Your chameleon may have MBD. Some things in your husbandry need to change immediately.

Lighting: Replace coil light with reptisun 5.0 TUBE

Food: Replace worms with Crickets

Plants: Replace fake plants with live plants

Supplements: I think your over-supplementing with D3. I think its to be used 2 times a month. (Someone please correct me if wrong)
I depends on the concentrations of d3 in the powder, but for the kinds of vitamins most people use you are right

Although there are changes that need to be made, I don't think you will have to worry about them if you don't get him to the vets ASAP.
This is still true, even if he starts to look better

Oh, poor baby. He's very pretty.

I strongly suspect he fell into the pool and nearly drowned. I think he's recovering from a major shock. I think you'll have a better idea how he is tomorrow morning. If he's having any problems, I do think you should try to get him into a vet. I completely understand how difficult that can be.
Probably, but as chamero says, there is pobably an underlying issue

Sorry for your little guy, I agree with the changing of lighting, feeding, supplementation and ditching the waterfall suggestions. Try and keep him well hydrated and get him outside for some natural sun if weather permits. Keep us posted.:(
Good idea.

he is still improving and thank you for the tips on the plants and things for him, I spent all day driving to and calling vets withi n an hour from where i live and no one knows how to dealw ith reptiles, he is getting more movement in his front hands but he's still not walking yet. Im trying to get him to drink as much as possible my misting him but im not sure if hes actually drinking any of it, n i cant get him to eat anything now, is there any tips or tricks to try and get him to?

If he is not eating anything you can make a bug juice, just do a search on what to use. Mashed up crickets, pedialite would be good. You can use a credit card very gently to open his mouth and try and get him to eat the bug juice with supplements in it as well. I am routing for him. Keep us posted. It is unfortunate you can't find a vet:(:(

its getting worse, can someone help

so sadly Jose's MBD seems to be advancing, he is sleeping A LOT during the day now and will not hang on with his front hands only back legs and tail. he was drinking fine and eating minimum amounts of food and for the past 2 3 days i havent been able to get him to eat anything. hes now ion the bottom of his cage as i have to check on him CONSTANTLY through out the day. i also noticed he bulkged his eyes out the other day for a moment,(havent seen it happen again sense) i have no vet near me, closest is 2 hours away from me and im running out of ideas to help him, can anyone give some suggestions????

I was very surprised to read your post today saying that he's still alive. Do you have a recent photo of him?

Is he spitting out what you put in his mouth or is he just not eating on his own?
If he's just not eating on his own, you can try dripping water on the end of his nose and when/if he starts to drink, stick a cricket, head first, between his teeth and see if he will eat it. Here's a bug juice recipe that you can feed him if he won't eat on his own...but it would be better if you can get him to eat on his own....

Did you ever manage to get him to a vet who could tell you what was wrong?

What changes did you make to his husbandry?

My baby veiled is about three months old and today for the first time she went limp and fell.. I think it was because she was dehydrated because she has just gone through her second shed cycle. I've been periodically showering her since then but everytime she gets stuck or falls upsidedown she won't use all of her strength or her back legs and I have to pick her up and set her down somewhere else. Her body is almost limp and she opens her mouth and tries to hiss at me but her body doesn't work with or against my help. It's freaking me out cause she kept closing one eye earlier and she's usually very active. HELP!

kiwi...you need to start your own thread. Go to the top of the page below the green bar and click on "Health forum" then click on "new thread". It gets too complicated trying to answer two people in the same thread. You need to get help quickly from the sounds of it.
