I think she mentioned that there was a place to lay eggs... but with being housed with a male, I would be surprised if she even would lay with him lurking around.

well i found out that its dehydration. severe dehydration. the vet says we're pretty much fighting a losing battle. she has laid them with him there. i wouldve removed her or him if they should aggression, but there was/is none, so i didnt think itd be that big of a deal

well he passed away this morning. i tried all that i could. im so sad...but now i have to keep cami from dying of a broken heart.

With WC cams you are already in for a battle. I am very sorry for your loss-it is really hard to lose the little guys. You learn and move on. Assumming Cami is the other chameleon, she won't have a broken heart, she will be better off in a cage all by herself. I would certainly have a fecal done on her in case that was a factor.

I sent you a PM. Parasites being the factor. Roundworms, coccidia, etc... These things can kill outright or weaken the immune system for other things like infection.

I am so sorry to hear about your chameleon. I have lost two chameleons over the years my first being a veiled that lived 4 years until he got a respiratory infection the second was a jackson that lived 5 years but ended up with a recurring mouth infection that he finally died of. I will say that I was heart broken each time. That is why for the last 4 years I did not have another. My girlfriend got me a panther so I am happy but I know that I am already getting attached. Hang in there.

Very sorry to hear of your second loss. It is hard to lose these little ones. If you decide to get another one, start with a captive bred male Veiled or Panther. This way you are not dealing with parasites or other unknowns that come with wild caught pet store chams. Order from a reputable breeder (I recommend FL Chams)-this gets you off to the best start.

A Captive bred flap neck might not be a bad choice either - doesn't Mike have a few of them?

There's a world of difference between a WC chameleon and a CB.

compare it to dogs: You buy a good healthy puppy froma reputable breeder, chances are you'll have few problems. But if you were to buy a feral dog that's been out in the jungle of central africa for a few years, and not treated well (maybe not fed or watered for weeks) until you got it... different story.

There was, very likely, NOTHING you could have done to save them.

you could perform a necropsy. If you have a strong enough stomach, and possibly see if there are worms under the skin or inside the cham. I've read a bit about performing necropsys and it seems you can only learn from doing one.
