I'm very sad I want get to see little L grow up and love him for a number of years. I also feel guilty that I didn't get too spend much time with him. It was tax season when he arrived and then Andy got sick and I spent allot of extra time with him.
Elwood was fine Tuesday evening and then Wed. morning he was just sitting in his condo not his usual active self. Then when I went to take him outside to his sun cage I noticed he hardly had a grip at all. I called the vet and Dr. Doug was in California so I got an appt. with Kristin, my dog Red's vet that has worked with Doug for 12+ years. She examined him, did blood work and x-rays and everything was completely normal but he was not normal at all. She said the only thing she could think of was the beginning of MBD and nothing showing in the blood work or X-rays yet. She gave him a Vit B injection and told me to give him liquid calcium. She said I could leave him or take him home but he'd probably be more comfortable at home and get more attention from me so I took him home. Thursday morning he was just the same or worse. I emailed a chameleon vet friend of mine in Orlando and he said it could possible be poisoning or something toxic like he ate a bad bug outside or something bit him. He said I could try a bit of the steroid Doug had Andy on for the cancer so I gave him a tiny drop Thursday and Fri. mid morning. He was completely paralyzed by this time. Several times throughout the day Friday I thought he passed before he actually did and then I waited for hours to make sure. Doug did the necropsy Saturday and the only think he could see was puss in the kidney but sent all of his organs to pathology. He said maybe we will know more when he gets the results back from those. I sure hated to have that sweet little boy cut up but with him so young I allowed Doug to do it.
I'll let you all know when I hear the results from the pathological reports.
I can no longer see you with my eyes
Touch you with my hands
But I will feel you in my heart forever
