is my chameleon dead?

so my veiled has been having problems recently. i found him laying at the bottom of his cage a few days ago. i’ve been trying to revive him by giving him lots of water and letting him rest, etc. i did not go to the vet, i don’t have any reptile vets really close to me.

i'm pretty sure there’s nothing i can do to save him now, so i’m accepting the fact that he is probably going to die.

but, is he already dead? in the past few hours he turned this really light color. if he’s not dead, is there a way to make him more comfortable? right now he’s just laying on the bottom of his cage on some reptile carpet stuff

Is he breathing? Does he move at all? When they're dead they usually get a lot of black on them.
Don't try to give him water when he's not responsive ...it will likely end up in his lungs and kill him.

he doesn’t really move that much, maybe slightly like little twitches or adjustments every few hours. i can’t tell if he’s breathing either. also, i’m not putting any water around his face, but i read that he can soak it up through his vent, so i’ve been putting water there. is that okay?

slightly, but it’s very weak and doesn’t wrap around all the way

He might be fading, is the sun still out in your area? Maybe some lays real Sun rays might help him pass on peacefully. This is what I did for my cham when it way passing

If he's twitching after hours of lying there he's likely still alive.
They don't soak water up their vents....but I'm glad you're not putting it around hi face. Does he open his eyes at all?
What's the cage temperature?

It doesn't look good for him...it's likely you're right that there's not much hope. A vet might be the only chance you have but it has to be done right now....and you said you're not close to any.

his cage temperature is 75 at the bottom and 82-85 at the top. i try to close his eyes but he eventually reopens them.
