This is one of the T. cristatus that came in on import months back. He has been doing great and already bred one of the females I have.

I just love watching them hunt because their entire body vibrates right before they launch their tongue....absolutely hilarious!!

Thanks!! This species has been great to work with so far. They are very curious little things.

You sound like me. When my B-day rolls around, I always get myself the best gift...haha!

I read somewhere they also eat small frogs? I never heard of a Chameleon that did that.

I read that as well. If I remember right, that information was listed in the Biology of Chameleons. But, I am pretty sure that was a description of cristatus held in captivity.

I will have to go check that info later to make sure.

That bejeweled head is what I love about this species.

Agreed, the blue "crown" on the head looks so friggin neat! Do they ALWAYS shake like that before striking? I wonder what the purpose of that is. Maybe to mimic a leaf blowing in the wind so the insect has no idea what's about to hit them? Lol. Very cool nonetheless.

I am in LOVE! How cool do they look!! Man, I hate that my husband strongly dislikes reptiles! I suppose though, it's for the best or I would have SO MANY! I just need to be happy with my 2, sigh.

Joel you are slowly, every so slowly, changing my mind about that little group you bought. One day I might get one from you. Maybe. I still think they are ugly, but am slowly starting to find that prehistoric look about them rather appealing. The blue crown and stripes on the throat are spectacular. How big do the males get? Are the males the only ones with the stripes and blue crown?
