male veiled still fasting

yea, but i put in like 3 at a time. by the end of the day the dust is gone.
i never know when he is goin to eat, so it is hard to keep them dusted.

how much was he eating beforehand? Fasts like this are very common when chameleons are eating too much. Mine would go for weeks without eating before I figured out what the problem was. I was feeding them way too much. 2-3 superworms every day would make my veiled gain weight. I feed him less than that. Now, he's old as heck, and can't maintain weight on anything... poor old guy.

a lot! 6-8 crickets, suppers, and mealworms. i did this because he was growing and he never stopped eatting. yes, his growth spurt is over, but he should eat more than this.

well, I would be surprised if he didn't do this. Seems they all do when fed that much. Do not worry. Just let him be. Wait a few days, offer a cricket or two. If he doesnt' eat it, take it out. Repeat. The key is to keep them hungry. They need a fraction of their appetite to stay healthy. Without parasites and the stresses of the wild, they dont' need to eat that much to maintain their weight (or even grow normally).

The difference between what the CAN eat,a nd what they NEED to eat is amazing. My first male veiled could eat 20+ adult crickets a day. For about 2 weeks. Then , he'd not eat a thing for weeks.

relax, let him go hungry for a while. He'll eat. But keep him wanting more - ever stuff him. You will not likely see this problem again.

yea that is what i have been doing. i offer him food, and if he dosent take it i remove it from his cage for a day. then replace it with something else. repeat repeat
thanks for the support. he was my first chameleon, so some stuff...well a lot is still to be learned:)
