Mouth Issue with Monty

Wow, Monty looks no worse for wear. Really happy for you.

I didn't know that vets actually perform surgery on chams. Interestig stuff and glad that you have what appears to be a capable and knowledgable reptile vet on hand.:)

I'm erasing an untoward rant that wasn't necessary. Misplaced emotional spillover after just leaving another similar thread regarding the point I was making. .

dumb rant 2

Sorry, I missed this - was any of your rant aimed at me, Dr O? I don't feel I deserve that - I love Monty and want what's best for him. I have had him since he was 7 weeks old and weighed just 2g. He means a lot to me!

What a great news! I am so happy for your cham! I followed your thread. The results are impressive.

of course not lilly, you know i love you!! it's another thread that has gone wildly anti-vet by a supposed former vet, i moved from there to here, and a comment here made me "exuberantly respond". nothing at all to even do with you and Monty, thus the erasure.

sorry!

however, i am thrilled with your success with Monty!! the site looks fantastic, and i suspect you will only get good news from the pathology report. if it helps you through this any easier, it's gross appearance is not that of a metastatic cancer, so get those thoughts out of your head if they're there!

on another note, your photos of whatever Monty's current issue is are always spot-on. macro lens/cropped/focused----there's so many people that post blurry photos from 2' away and expect answers, i never understood that! yours are always excellent though, and he is such a handsome subject to begin with.

Okie dokie! I love my Monty more than anything. I think the vet made the right call, despite my worry that things would go the way they have before. With my previous chams, once a vet visit was required it signified that it was the beginning of the end. This time its 'felt' different as Monty has remained active, eating and drinking as normal throughout, showing no signs of illness.

Thank you! It is purely my clear photo of the problem that led the vet to call us back in with a view to removing the growth. He too praised the photo that enable Monty to get help. I love taking photos and macros are an excellent way of seeing what is not easily seen, especially where Monty's mouth is so small and difficult to gain access to for a proper look.

it's more than that--you have a keen eye for the angles and lighting composing your shots, particularly difficult with an unpredictably moving subject!! i'm sure 20 shots go in the can for every keeper, but that's normal. my grandparents were both photographers and my dad took over the business, so i grew up around studios/lights/box cameras, etc. i'm currently in-between cameras; haven't liked anything i have bought and tested lately. i may approach you again to see if you want to share some of your photos for some articles that i'll be writing for my site! (credited to you, of course).

Dr O, I am honoured that you feel my photos are good enough to be used on your site. Thank you so much! :D

Any news back yet? Did they tell you how long till you will get tesults? Just keep doing what you have been and Monty will be fine.

Laurie, the vet said he may possibly get the results back tomorrow, but wasn't really sure how long it would take. The original swabs took longer than a week for results and its only been 4 days so far since the op to remove the mass. Don't worry, as soon as I know anything I will update the thread!

Update!! Good News!

I had my long awaited call from the vet today with Monty's biopsy results. Monty's suspected tumour was actually 'granulating tissue with proud flesh'. The lab found a piece of shattered tooth in the centre that was causing all the trouble and not letting it heal. How on earth he broke a tooth in the first place is a mystery to me. Just super happy that it wasn't any thing nasty and no further treatment is required! Love my dinky dinosaur so much! :D

Woohoo! Glad to hear Monty got a clean bill of health :)
