Hey y'all! I am new member to the forums and also a new owner of a beautiful veiled boy named Godzilla. I purchased him from PetSmart and he seemed in perfect health. I've had him for 2 weeks and noticed he had developed a slight bulge on his bottom lip. I thought he got a cricket head stuck between his teeth and lip and investigated. I got him to open up and saw a small red bump inside. His teeth also looked a bit brown.( I didnt notice the color of teeth upon purchasing.) But I am freaking out..i have wanted this guy sense I saw him when he was just a babe. I called all vets around my area today but they were all closed. I am trying my best to have him seen tomorrow asap but if anyone has any info for me, please share. I have been searching the forums and seem pics of mouth rot. I am not sure if it is the beginning stage of that or not. To me it just looks like a little sore. But I am not a vet. I can attach pics and more info when I get home later from work. Thank you so much for any input that you can give me as of now.

Do u see any pus in his mouth? Can you see any tissue swelling around the gums?
Thank you for answering. There was no puss this morning nor swelling BUT he hasn't been eating his crickets in a few days. He would accept mealworms but I know those are not a great diet by themselves. I just wanted him to eat something :(

I understand how sad u are, maybe the sharp crickets legs cause that little sore that stops him from eating,it happen to one of my veiled cham long long ago,and what I did is I diluted the Hydrogen peroxide 3% strength in the half cup of distilled water mix then I use a q tip to lightly clean that sores twice a day and I got lucky,The sore didn't get worse since I caught it early, after about 4Days,he start eating again,I also bump the temperature slightly higher for him to recuperate faster, and that is for my personal experience, since I never saw ur cham before in my life nor observing his behavior,I would highly recommend to see a chameleon specialist vet when u get a chance like u already stated,it might needs more antibacterial topical cream in ur case or not.

Thank you again for the input and personal experience. Do you think it would do any harm and trying your solution this evening? I will still go to the vet as soon as I can get an appointment but I do not want him to be uncomfortable all night :-/ also I was able to get some pics now. I will post them.

Also, I am using exoterra intense basking spot bulb 75W, zoomed 5.0 mini. He is misted at least 2 times a day, it's a good misting too. He had a pothos that he gobbled up and i now have an umbrella plant in there while both pothos grow back. Temp is 80-90 ( 90 in basking spot ). Humidity stays no lower than 50 and no higher than 70. I use repashy calcium plus for feedings. You see I tried to do all research and I even bought and returned items before I even got him because I wanted him to have an amazing life with me. Oh also I'm about to up his habitat to a 2 x 2 x 4 foot reptibreeze. (Charge) he's in a medium size one now : 16 x 16 x 30 inch.

As long u not using the whole strenth the key word is "diluted"since hydrogen peroxide is antiseptic for treatment minor cuts and abrasions n can use in human for Gargle or rinse in the mouth.
But do remember if is not improved,u will need to see a professional Vet so they can give u the prescription meds that suitable for his needs.

Awesome, about 1 tsp to 1/2 cup water? Or less than 1 tsp?

Thats about right since its already 3% solution ,after u mixed well, then lightly dab with a q tip, dont let it drip cause u dont want him to swallow,u just want to clean that part a bit thats all.
Okay, very good. I will do so until we can get a vet appointment. Thank you again, I actually believe you helped me from having a total meltdown haha

If u are melting down, who is going to save ur chamy huh....so stay cool n best luck to u,I will send my prayer ur way,n dont forget, this is jus a temporary solution,Visiting a Vet is a sure shot for ur chams well being.
