No point in buying from breeders

I'm still waiting for photos of this Ambilobe male of yours. I (and others) are not convinced that the is an Ambilobe at all. With all this confidence in yourself and your animals I'm surprised you haven't defended him with proof yet.

If you plan on selling the offspring as Ambilobes and don't confirm that your panthers are what you say they are, then that's a huge ethical problem in this community.

I have to agree with Olimpia. Those pics you posted dont look like a pure Ambilobe. Theres a reason you havent seen anything like him before. Its because he's most likely a cross locale cham.

Sounds like you have it all worked out man. Why are you even asking questions you seem to have all the answers already?

You havent considered that you could lose all those eggs during incubation. Ive known ppl with alot more exp than you lose whole clutches during incubation.

Did you run fecals on those wc's prior to breeding them? If so thats another cost of breeding. If you didnt, and one of them had parasites or coccidia then you may not hatch anything or you may lose most of the eggs during incubation.

Did you consider that your lucky that your male didnt injure himself or one of the females while breeding. Those things do happen on occasion. Thats another potential cost that a breeder has to conisider. A vet visit isnt cheap.

He is putting his name out there. This has nothing to do with asking questions or even changing the public's mind. This is advertising, plain and simple. Now everyone on CF knows how he is (I think is his assumption) and knows which cams he has availible and how many and for how much.

First page and a half are enough for me to recognize that the best course of action here is ignoring the thread and letting it die out.

Some of what he says I agree with, but he sounds clueless (based on the first page or two), IMHO.

im not advertising anything, my whole point was throwing my opinion out there and seeing what everyone else thinks.

To be an entrepreneur you do have to have attitude, and also believe you can offer something, or produce something, that nobody else has. I see that spirit and drive in the OP. But I would advise the OP to humbly work his craft and to develop some good karma - it goes a loooonnnggg way. Elliot and I have had some small measure of success because we found this forum and were able to lean on other successful/knowledgeable/helpful people (er, breeders) for support. There are many bumps along the way.

I realize this is directly from an email correspondence we had-- If i had noticed this thread sooner I probably would have mentioned something.

Yes, i paid 275 for a ch faly. Do I regret it, no.

Yes, I paid close to 400 for a red bodied female bloodline. Do I regret it? no. When you see the babies come out of the splash/scarlet bloodline, you will see why some chameleons are worth more money.

and as for the chameleon company... not bashing, but there have been a couple of mistakes sent out. He's got a big operation.

I understand some people like yourself dont mind paying more but I do. Im sure there are alot of good chams that come from name brand lines. although I feel alot of people are blinded by how good the sire looks and expect thiers to look the same. Ive seen alot of grown adults that came from name brand lines that members posted pictures of that didnt look that good of quality at all, blotchy, dark greens/brown colors, faded looking colors. But on the other hand i have seen amazing ones comes out too. Basically it sucks for some people paying top dollar for below average colored chams. I know i would be pissed if i payed 300$ for a baby, waited 7 months and it turned out crappy. Now How is that person suppose to sell thier babies with a crappy looking sire that has a brand name bloodline attached to it?

Believing in yourself is one thing. Not sure what you mean by attitude. Yeah, humility is the key here. I dont think coming to a forum and talking crap about everyone else posting stupid things like "Power to the little guy" is exactly the best way to say hello, but perhaps that is a matter of style. As I said, I can agree with a lot of what the OP said, but starting your introduction with "I am new to chameleon breeding..." followed by <Insert presumptuous statements about the industry here>, just seems a tad bit obtuse to me.

But then again, I never deny the fact that I am an opinionated A-hole (and I am in a bad mood this morning...)

Good luck OP, hope it works out for you. I am not saying you are wrong- as I said I can follow alot of what you are saying. I just think you need to cool it a bit, thats all. Stop being a jackass.

Oh trust me i like the forum and used alot of good info on it. Its nice to have somewhere to turn for opinions others have. But with every opinion you post there will be others that disagree. The only time i say arrogant/smartass things is when people come off as one to me and expect me to just sit back and say nothing. Funny how i post one opionion and then everyone starts picking apart my whole project. doubting my husbandry, cham locales etc. Your opinions wont hold me down or discourage me.

I didn't come here making up stories for no reason. I put down all the observations Ive made so far as a new breeder and new member to the forums. Sorry we don't see eye to eye. Of course everyone's experience is going to differ. So far pretty much everything ive said in my original post has been confirmed about members bashing right off the bat. hense why i said "If you think im bashing i am" Bait to the little fishies

Based off of this photo you have, IMO he looks like a cross or more like an Ambanja:

you can see that ambanja and ambilobes are both from the mainland. It could be very easily confused in a shipment.

Better adults trend towards certain characteristics that are prevalent throughout their offspring. When buying a certain line, you must look at both parents to judge what you feel the chameleon you are buying will turn out like. While the children may not be identical to the parent, as with all animals, you are still more likely to get the traits you want.

Yea like i said earlier i will post pictures to prove he has ambilobe traits. I also said that he doesnt really look like that anymore, that picture was from 2 months ago and he must have been stressed. Now his bars are fully red, orange belly, green/turqouise body.

But it doesn't matter anyways right? because the babies wont look like the parent anyways? :D

some do and some dont. some look amazing, some dont. All i can say is that i have the first dibs on the best ones. If you are so skeptical on his locale some of his offspring should resemble him.
