Hi,

So I many in process of purchasing a female parsonii. The seller has also messaged a young male but says is it is at a reduced price because he has gout. They claim the animal shown symptoms of the condition but they were unsure what it was so they took it to the vets. They did fecal samples because they first suspected parasites but they found none. Also he did bacterial planting - also found nothing dangerous - just normal microflora. So the vet suspects it could be gout but is not 100%. Pictures of animal attached. The seller sent me a video & the male parsonii looks good to me but though I have experience with this species, I would call myself an expert. Is this an animal I should I avoid or am I being over cautious?

Thanks

Gout is usually detected in the blood or in the symbiotic fluid in the joints. In humans it can be detected in X-rays too. It means the kidneys are not filtering the uric acid properly. There is no cure but there is meds for flare up’s. It’s very painful and can affect the temperament of the chameleon.
