Preparing for my first chameleon, tips appreciated

He's just a little ragdoll, I love him so much. Very curious and brave, and is the ruler on the house. He loves to head bob.

I've got Mamool in the pothos, she earned it

She's starting to. I think her eyes are bothering her more than anything.

She was under the dripper earlier like she was taking a shower. She did appear to drink as well. Gave her a misting as well and she just sat there with her eyes closed and creeped away after I stopped

Baby girl is doing great yay !!. She's eating and drinking any poop yet ?

If she's pooping she's good at hiding it. I haven't seen any.

Stuck my head into her enclosure. I think I see a urate but no poopy. The misting might have washed that part. Whoops. Urate has some yellowing but not terribly. Hopefully the drip should help

Urates will take a long time to get white, and it will take even longer for her to be out the worrisome dehydrated area.

She's hanging out by the dripper right now, and hopefully the vet may be able to assist with any additional hydration.
Some juicy hornworms should also help. I really hope she eats them..

Who know how she was kept hydrated at the pet supply Beyond just a dripper , she may not have been misted at all and I'm sure humidity has not adequate . It will take some time for her to have white poo . Long misting sessions along with access to many drinking opportunities will be a must for some time .

The little girls usually have no prob with eating .

My little beardie is nodding in agreement.

And yeah I truly doubt she was misted at the store. She was in a small like 10g cube glass tank with a dripper taking up like 1/4 the room.

I do think she's starting to look a lot better since I got her. I hope the vet can help get her smiling

It's heart breaking how they keep there animals of all kinds . They should not be allowed sell them !!. I know it was heart breaking for you to loose JaJa , you loved her very much , but this little girl has a chance now . It would have been a certain death slow and painful if she was left . I know so so many do not agree with buying from the chain stores and I completely get why . Baby girl will have a fighting chance . Everything happens for a reason .

I fully understand, and I hate supporting the chain stores with their animals, but when it comes down to it, that animal is already there. At that point buying them is saving them in most cases.

I made this argument on the beardie forum as well. Beardies especially, at least where I am, sell like hot cakes. Me refusing to buy one isn't going to make them stop selling them. They're just going to go to a home where the owners don't know what they're doing and possibly end up killing it. At least if I get one I can care for it properly and give it a long and healthy life. Both my dragons are petsmart dragons and I love them dearly.

In the case of Mamool ja, they were so happy someone finally took her, and as I was leaving I heard them talking that they do not plan to get another chameleon because she took so long to sell

There's a Pacman frog at petsmart that has been there I swear like 4 months in a tiny tiny critter keeper just jammed with moss. The moss being a huge impaction risks for Pacman frogs. I can't save them all, though :(

I completely agree with you .

I stop in occasionally with one of my beardies to pick up feeders sometimes even though they're a rip off compared to online prices. The people that work there are very kind hearted, but the only knowledge they have on the animals is from cooperate standards and have little to no control on how they are housed, but I've heard them give terrible advice to people.

There was a little boy and his mom interested in beardies talking with an employee and I was there with my oldest dragon, and the employee actually let me answer all their questions lol.

I'm in there more often than I'd like, but I always check the reptiles. Last time I was in there I alerted them that one of the dragons had an eye infection that they didn't notice

Well their a rip even compared to mammals (rodent foods, dog foods and treats, cat foods and treats) I make all my dog food, treats and chews, I make my own cat treats, and if I could I would make my own cat food my cats are a pain, so I just buy stuff online. When I do go in there I always check the dog stuff prices (the only thing I might buy there are toys or shampoos but I usually buy them at local shops) and god they do 100% mark up, sometimes more.

Oh yeah, and don't get me started on their basking bulbs. You can buy three indoor halogen bulbs for the price of one basking bulb at the pet stores and the halogens last longer.

My cat eats blue buffalo and I thought it would be cheaper on Amazon, but it was the same price as petsmart. Huh.

Kudos having the patience to make all that food and breed your own feeders. Roaches alone is enough for me lol. I forget about them a lot but at least they're hardy. They all got moved to a larger bin this morning though which was so needed

Try Chewy for cat foods

And for dog food I just feed him a complete raw diet. Organs, edible bone and muscle meat, lots of different proteins etc. But I enjoy doing the treat making XD. My ad in the miscellaneous classfieds has my slightly incomplete menu. I think I have around... 30 or so things only devoted to dogs? maybe? Everything from baked treats to single ingredient chews. My dog gets two a day, he's a spoiled man <3 I love my man.

I mean my insects are spoiled like hell. A lot of the people who have bought from me can likely vouch for that. I love my insects feeders or not.
