Preparing for my first chameleon, tips appreciated

I can tell there's a lot of care that goes into your family of pets and critters.

Can't say I spoil my feeders. The mentality for me is they are just food for another, but I definitely care for them enough to make them great food for my critters. Lots of fresh veggies and fruits to make them taste extra delicious, but I should probably clean and transfer them more often now that the colony is growing. My young beardie definitely made their numbers drop drastically though which is why she's on a cricket break.

I've never heard of chewy, I'll look into them! Even when it was just me and my cat and I was living paycheck to paycheck I refused to downgrade her food

I'm lucky we have a wonderful woman down the street that breed bugs .I often trade a Service for bugs . We grow as much as we can through good wealth . There's also a farm stand a sec from us and several farmers markets all around .

How fortunate! I'm surrounded by neighbors who would probably be disgusted at the idea of breeding insects.

I'm not right in the city but I'm in the outskirts of one. Farmer markets are often held downtown but I've never gone. I just go to a local grocery store for veggies

I realized while cleaning my tattoo tonight I never shared it here.
As fellow beardie owners I feel you'd appreciate it

In memory of my beardie that passed from cancer May 4th

Yeah :( it's been extremely unfortunate.

I'd love to get some more tattoos now that this door has been opened, but now I'm faced with the idea of which pet deserves a tattoo.
I think the beardie tattoo alone really speaks to my love of these amazing creatures, and no matter if it's one day or ten years, every loss is devastating, but I'm up to 10 critters and I can't get a tattoo for every loss as much as I'd love to honor them.

But how could I deny him a spot on my skin?

This was the baby you lost ? You have lots of spots for the little loves ;). Unless you already have lots of tattoos?

The one I just photo'd is my boy, Richter, alive and well :)

This is the girl I lost. She was only two years old :( so beautiful, I miss her so much.

Very true I could do to scale tattoos of the little froggies, and when Mamool ja lives a full life I think a chameleon tattoo would be gorgeous. Not that all my pets need to die in order to earn a spot on my body, it's just that losing my dragon inspired me to get one as I needed my tattoo to have personal significance

The tattoo of my beardie is my very first tattoo

She was beautiful  . She looked so healthy in that pic . Love her white neck . Maybe one of JaJa I know you did not have her long but you really loved her and yes hopefully Mamool Ja will have a nice happy long life . Scaly babies are addictive .

Lol I don't keep any beardies personally, but I have had a couple sick ones pass in and out of my house once rehabilitated recently. I have kept a couple in my past as my personal animals. I have two tattoos I will be getting for sure in the future. One dedicated to all the service dogs I will have in my life, my current one since he is my first will be the first one to make it. He will be the first paw print.

The second one will be for me, I will be getting a semi-colon, I plan to either make it attached to a chameleon.... or a tree of life. Haven't decided yet.

If I had more money I would fill my house with reptiles, I love them so much. I love my cat as well, but it's obvious reptiles are what I connect with most.

My cat I call my best friend, but the connection you create providing everything crucial for your reptiles to thrive is so time consuming and personal, so you just feel so attached to them.

Andee, those ideas are amazing. Service dogs would be so extremely personal and close to your heart, I love the idea. I think working a semi colon in to a chameleon in some way is great

My girl that passed that I photod looked healthy up until a couple hours before she passed. I was aware something was wrong, but because she looked so healthy I was basically being told she's fine and to just wait it out (she stopped eating but never lost weight.) I had seen her that day on my lunch break, and when I arrived home she was basically on her death bed. It was so sudden.

Poor baby girl... So is that the one who had cancer? Did you learn because you had a necropsy done?

And I have more reptiles probably than I should, but a lot of them don't stay for the long haul with me. I get them better and then send them to someone I have screened to live forever.

Love it . My X and I breed short hairs . Pretty amazing . I currently do not have any 4 Legged babies . We live In a very small condo . When my son and I moved in it was just him and I . Then craig came into our life and him now is my Hubby best friend sole mate Amazing partner a can't even say enough about Craig . I have always kept beardies and leopard geckos . 13 was our first . I'm pretty old now lol to many years to count . Frances was my Hubby and mine baby lol . We just fell in love with her and eeded other chameleon and @Matt Vanilla Gorilla answered that little prayer .

Yes, she had kidney cancer. I chose to have a necropsy done because I needed answers, and to make sure it wasn't something my other dragon, my now oldest, couldn't contract. I also needed to know if I did anything wrong to save any future beardies. It was both fortunate and unfortunate to be confirmed as cancer. It relieved any guilt that I was to blame, but it also told me that she was probably secretly sick for so long and I could do literally nothing to help her

Yeah necropsies I feel are really necessary when it just doesn't make sense like that and you have other reptiles etc to worry about.

The vet I had been taking her to also really wanted answers so she did it for free which was incredibly nice.

I have her buried out front and planted a garden over her grave. I planted lilies for her which is part of the tattoo design
