Preparing for my first chameleon, tips appreciated

She has such a cute grumpy face. But her eyes still look like they could use extra moisture so I definitely think getting the lubrication will help. It will help with cleaning her eyes herself.

I'm hoping I'm paranoid but wanted to run this by you guys.

Mamool has not been showing a lot of signs of a RI but she had some red/gooey discharge in her nose this morning and some mucus on the edge of her lip. She allowed me to clean both out, the nose discharge was not a lot, just seemed like a red ish booger, and the mucus on her lip wasn't a lot.

She has not been gaping. She's taken a few deep breaths but not followed with any popping or crackling sound the way JaJa's was. She's done some moody little puff and mouth openings to me sometimes, but nothing alarming, and she did these at the vet and no comment was made other than acting like she was angry with them.

The other signs though are being lethargic/eyes closed, which she has been doing but this seems more attributed to her eye irritation. She'll sit with her eyes closed but will look at me when I pass by, and she does move around but isn't super active. Since the last pooping episode her appetite seems to have dropped quite a bit, but she is drinking and watches her food, just hasn't been eating any the past 2 days.

I'd hate to pretend it's nothing, but I'd also hate to have to run her to the vet already if I'm just paranoid.
I'm picking up the eye lubricant after work today to start on that.

Yes I agree take her in as soon as possible. Even if it isn't an RI, something is going on and she doesn't feel good, all of these signs are huge red flags that she needs to be seen. I will keep my fingers crossed you can get her seen soon.

It's unfortunate that I am in a situation where I cannot tell the difference between healthy and unhealthy behaviors. Clearly some things are red flags, but from JaJa to Mamool, both have been under the weather and worse since getting them.

Is there anything specifically that I might be doing wrong?

I know she does not like the misting but dehydration causes a host of issues . I would invest in an automatic Mister . Chameleon are very specialized care . The other thing is if JaJa did have a URI Mamool could have gotten it same enclosure. Please don't Think you are doing this . @Andee is an amazing keeper and so is @kinyonga and both have been on this thread . She very lucky to have you because you do keep a very close eye on her and can get her to vet .

And I can't disagree more you do know their is something going on you did with JaJa and you do with Mamool . Rehabbing a chameleon is not easy . With Mamool no one knows how she was kept , how healthy mom was . That all trickles down to the babies .
