It brings me an unbelievable amount of sadness to tell you all that my beloved Romeo has passed away. I found him today on the cage floor with his eyes closed and his mouth open. I took him to have him humanely euthanized and my heart is broken. As some of you know, he had a foot injury which really was just the beginning of the end. It has been an up and down process for months and months and he finally developed gout in his knee. His uric acid levels were very high which meant his kidneys were not functioning properly. He had been on a steady decline over the past few weeks. My vet thinks the ultimate cause of his demise was gout attacking his organs. I am confident with that diagnosis and instead of having a necropsy done, I buried his little body in my back yard so he will always be with me. I am gonna miss the heck out my beautiful boy. It is amazing how attached you can get to these animals. Romeo just turned three years old last month and lived a beautiful live with me since he was a baby. I spoiled him rotten and have no regrets. RIP Romeo. I will never forget you.
