Sick / Fungus or open wound?

Until I took a pic and zoomed in, I didn't notice this may be an open wound. I am pet sitting and my neighbor doesn't know much about chami's either. I think it is an open wound, but don't know what to do. Could the white stuff be fungus? Look just above the back right leg....

I think he has MBD, because he is very lethargic. Some natural light yesterday and dusted crickets gave him a little spark, but still, he hardly moves at all. His skin still changes colors based on surroundings.

are you sure that is not a piece of poop stuck on his leg? I know it might sound crazy but it looks like the urate(the white part of the poop). Can you post some other pics of him. He should not be on the bottom like that. why is he laying on the floor of the cage like that? That is not a good sign.

the leg shows some definite deformity id take the cham to the vet

I know you are cham sitting, but does the chameleon have a UVB light, basking light? Can you please post some pics of him and his set up. Another picture of the leg in question also.

Like looks like a flesh of some sort showing.

But Does also look like crystalized irate though.Sorry not much help. Is the leg look hurt does it walk fine.

Should we place him on the rock? What if he doesn't have the strength to move off? I am worried about body temp. He seems to still move around the cage.... but barely. It takes him a lot of effort.

Try using Peroxide to clean it. If it bubbles most likely is an open wound and you have to take it to a vet. If it doesn't may be just dry poop?

please give us some background. Can he hold himself up? They do not lay on rocks like iguanas. There is supposed to be branches, vines, plants etc. Please, can you post some more pics of his limbs, the chameleon and what he is being housed in.

i was thinking poop too. Could they try and remove it gently with a tissue or something to see if it is indeed poop?

Also, what do you mean he changes color to his surroundings? Chameleons do not change color to what they're on, they change for mood, such as stress or the opposite sex, temperature, etc.

The "fleshy" part looks moist though, did you just noticed it? And anyways being lethargic is not a good sign for sure. Do a search on how to ask for help.

are you sure its not just poop? it looks like it, but if you are sure its not i might go visit the vet, because trying to scrape it off thinking its poop, might just be worse if it isn't....

I would gently try to wipe it with a soft tissue or something. I wouldn't scrape it. But I agree, trying to remove it if it is a wound could be bad but I think they should be able to determine pretty quick if it is removable or not.

Here are the surroundings

He doesn't move much at all.....No UVB light....that is why I put him in the sun today....and yesterday (how much sunlight per day?)... oh, and he is hiding under a torn up egg carton (fiber kind).

Should we turn off the heat lamp at night? Or keep that on constantly? What about regular light? I hate to ask this of you all, but I don't want him dead on my watch....

We are trying and so far, have not even touched the poor guy. Does he carry salmonella?

From the look of the setup, Id imagine he sitting in his own poop. You definitely need some improvements and you came to the right place.
