Oh its not you, I think he looks super skinny, he is eating but he is eating that girl who had him didn't feed him much because she didn't know how to "deal with it"

I'm truing to get him fat, ordered some dubias, and next week I'm going to order some hornworms

Yeah, I've been following this thread since before you got it, I hope he fattens up I can't believe she kept him in a tupper ware...

You are going to probably have a hard time getting anyone to send your dubias. FL regulations prohibit them here in our state. Discoids are ok though.

From your description in some of the thread it sounds like you may be south of me in Ft. Myers or Sarasota area, right? There is a local reptile shop in Largo that usually had discoids and a good variety of worms for sale. http://stores.pinellascountyreptiles.com/

Yes, I am in Cape Coral it's a city next to F. myers. I just received discoids today

Actually I just checked with the company I ordered them from and he said I got discoids because I live in FL, I guess I was wrong

Actually I just got a reply from the company I ordered them from and he said I got discoids because I live in FL, I guess I was wrong LOL

First time I order anything other than crickets .

Small update, Gizmo looks like he's gained a little little bit of weight, he's more active moving around when he's alone. Still have not seen him eating, I free range some crickets they do disappear through out the day but I have never seen him eat.

Today he got moved to his new cage a 24x24x48 reptibreeze. I still need get a thermometer and humidity gauge, also some vines and a dripper for him. I ordered an 18" light dome (I think that's what they are called), I think he likes the cage its a lot bigger than the one he was temporarily using. I really like the love tree he has there I might get that same one for my female veiled.

Don't know what else to get for his cage.

I'm glad he's gained!! also that's he's gotten a big cage, I hope you get a bunch of leafy vines for him up there to hide in, but I love the plant for sure!

Add in a nice big pothos and string it all over the place. He'll love crawling around on them.

I use those trees in all of my cages and my guys love them. As was mentioned, you'll want more foliage, and also pick the cage up off the floor. After all Gizmo's been through he'll appreciate the security of being higher up than you are. Keep up the good work with him!

I've been thinking of getting a pothos for both of my cages but honestly I've been trying to figure out how to hang the pothos from the cage, any suggestions?

Hanging plants in chameleon cages

Go to Home Depot and buy some large brass cup hooks. Get a wine cork and screw the cup hook through the mesh in the top of the cage. The brass won't rust from the humidity and the mesh should be fine to hold the weight of the plant as long as it is not huge.

You should also be able to find a way to hang stuff using high strength fishing line, which would not require modifying the cage. Just have to make sure it is installed in such a way that your cham can't get injured by it.

Working on placing a really nice pothos I got for his cage but for now he's taking 100% sunlight .

I placed the ficus outside and we've been putting him out there for 1-2 hours , while we play with the kids outside , but there's always someone watching him

It's to hot where I live to put my chams in the direct sun. Do you have a temp gun? Even in the shade my guys get in the 90's in the afternoon and I have to bring them in or they turn a light color and start opening their mouth.

Its in the 80s right now lately its been really nice, I put them out when the day is not as hot. He was actually for a couple of minutes basking real dark, then he went lighter.

Added the pothos, he's inside now in his own little jungle, I guess I'll see him when he comes out, I noticed today when I took him out that he is shedding in some spots here and there (by his tail, his face and one if his legs). He is letting me reach out inside the cage and he doesn't hiss at me. Another thing I noticed is that when I spray the cage sometimes he like wants the water to hit him all over his body almost like if he enjoys it. And he does it at anytime sometimes before I leave to work even.

He's very handsome! My guy Sage loves to be misted also. I have found that adult veileds shed in sections.
