Somebody please help me!!!

Don't give up! Some poeple find their chameleons months later. I believe there is even someone in Florida who works at a plant nursery and lost his panther in it. Apparently he still finds him every now and then, just barely out of reach. Make sure to spray the trees for him so he gets water if he sticks around.

The good thing is you have the whole summer to find him. He'll probably stay in the willow especially if its a large one. They like height and plenty of cover. Willows usually have the most bugs as they also hide in the dense growth. Keep putting feeders out and shake the branches when you do so he'll spot them. Don't give up, theres a good chance youll find him. He'll probably grow like mad and be super healthy when you do find him.

Not that this will ease your mind or help you find your cham, but I had a male Veiled Chameleon escape his cage outdoors once... We found him 7 months later, still in our yard! A little skinnier than when we lost him, but healthy otherwise! And I live in the middle of a feral cat colony!

I hope you find your boy! At least the weather is getting warmer! Don't give up on him!!!

yea thats what i figured i just wasnt sure because the days the wind picks up i would think he'd leave the willow whose branches sway with the wind and move to the more rigid neighboring tree no? and thanks for the advice on the feeders and shaking the branches!

Great story, hope all turns out well for me too! But i dont have 7 months, lol here in Jersey it starts getting pretty cold come October, so i got 4months tops way i look at it

Just out of curiosity, where did you find him? and wa he in a single tree or was there a line of trees, like in my case?

Since its only been less than 2 weeks, i'm pretty sure he'll be on the same tree. I've lost a cham before. Got her back after 5 days of searching. I have 2 large trees in my garden but she headed for the smaller one/closer one.

Was about 5 or 6 feet above my head, and so i needed a ladder. I suggest you keep looking in the willow tree itself. When i lost her it was windy as well, but she did'nt move too far away from her enclosure. About 10 feet.

I know you might not feel like, but i reckon you should have a go at the willow again.

how tall is it by the way ?(willow)

The good side is that you lost him at the right time of year, he should be able to survive if some animal doesnt get to him. Keep up the search every morning, as they are really active then. Good luck bud :)

See, my property ends at my back wall, of which is 10-15ft high. At this elevation, there are properties behind my house. The willow is positioned on one of these properties so its base is already 10-15ft taller than it should.

The willow itself towers over my house and overhangs 4 properties, mine, my neighbors, and the two houses behind my house (one of those being the owners of the bloody tree).

Then there is a line of a good 6-7 trees running down two houses to my left, all intertwined so if Berry feels the need to move, he's got plenty of surface to cover . . . These trees are more rigid and dense then the willow, so i have a feeling he may have moved to one of these trees when the wind picked up

I have thus far placed a cage of mature crickets up in the tree, open at the top for his feeding pleasure, and hoping he'll pick up the vibrations of the chirping of the crickets and come in to eat. I've also been watering down the giant willow tree, hoping to draw him in for a drink.

Did you see this post in Thompson's thread?
I ALWAYS put our cages in a very short (chameleon) walk to a tree and every time so far, knock on wood we have always found them in the tree.

Can you put his cage outside, elevated so that it's within range of the vines?

Only problem is that my parents "solution" was to cut all the vines and cut down the broken branch he climbed up, so NOW he's stuck up there with no way down . . . i was furious when i heard they did that, but what's done is done

Besides, the cage would have to be VERY high off the ground just to reach the first branch, so i dont think that's an option :(

YIKES! Can you get fake vines in there somehow? Maybe put the cage fence height and construct a vine out of that rubber coated stuff that leads from a branch to the cage?

I could always try, but i'm not so sure he would willingly climb DOWN to go into his cage? I mean, i think he's enjoying the freedom of life right now.

Also, is there any information on whether he would most likely be in the willow that he entered or one of the more rigid neighboring trees? Because a so-called "Animal Expert" told my neighbor (she's helping in the search) that Chameleon's tend to remain in the same tree they initially inhabit. I just wanted to know how accurate this information is.

the 'animal expert' is somewhat right on that one. They only move to search for new feeding grounds or mates. Otherwise they guard their territory fiercely.

I found him in the hedge in front of our house, about 50 feet from the spot where he escaped from his cage originally...

see i dont think he would climb down from the tree to go in a bush, do you? i'm hoping he wont even climb accross to another tree!

HOPING . . .

be patient, you will need to be the hunter and study each branch of each tree carefully, look for any odd shape on the branches. it will be like squirrel hunting... they freeze in the tree and you have to search each branch for something out of the norm.... when you find an odd shape you need to watch it for a little bit to see if there is any movement. use some good binoc's!
best of luck to you!
