finally! my 6 month veiled just started handfeeding today. He used to be really spooked by my and go to the bottom of the cage and hide when he saw me but now he's Handfeeding!

I know the feeling. I just got my two new panthers to start handfeeding and my female Jacksons that I have had for a year- it is a good feeling. I enjoy doling out the waxworms by hand now. :)

Any pointers for getting a cham used to it? Mine always look at me with a screw you look on their faces!

Get behind the food so that they can focus on you and the food at the same time. They want to keep an eye on you so you don't eat them and that lets them do it. ;)

Also, waxworms are candy. You must use them or hornworms or silkies...something they love.

cool. handfeeding a cham is awesome.

i have yet to take my kids into trying it. they are all scared to death even of his food, let alone the chameleon himself. :rolleyes:man, they're nothing like me when i was a youngin'.

just got my 3 1/2 month old panther to eat back to back phoenix worms from me without running away today! He has been really untrusting of me so far (only had him 8 days) and I think this may have been a big step towards being more social. :D

Any other tips or thoughts on getting your chams to warm up to you? I hear they can been quite the sweethearts.
