Who's behind the computer?

Studiocham, what you do is SO COOL!! And I'm so glad there are so many women on this site! Anyway, your work is amazing! You should do some chameleons and sell them at reptile shows or reptile stores or on your site. I would buy a Veiled in a hot minute (well, if the budget allows..).

Thanks, always nice to hear what people think of my work. I don't hear much in the studio when a new work is finished... imagine the sound of two chameleons golf-clapping. lol

I'd like to produce several herp subjects in resin. I've learned that most keepers would rather spend on updating their collections/equipment. :) I already make a veiled tile in ceramic.

Those calyptratus tiles Kristina is talking about are one of the finest examples of chameleon-related artwork you will ever find. not only is a a beautiful and highly detailed piece of artwork, it was made BY a chameleon keeper! Hand made. And I have to say, the likeness is incredible - my old guy's colors will show for a long long time.

As for me:

I'm a health inspector fo rhenderson county, NC (near Asheville, in the mountains). I dont' do food and lodging inspections, I do Septic work - it's not as bad as it sounds. Mostly, it's designing new systems and figuring out how to repair failing systems.

It's actually a great combination of working outside, problem solving and biology. Of course, it's biology of bacteria and such, not so much the "fun" biology of lizards and frogs.

I've been keeping chameleons for around 15 years - I got my first one as a birthday present when I was 15. Wow... didnt' even realize that - I'm turning 30 on June 11th - I've been keeping these things for HALF my life.

I need to update my web page - I think this is the latest pic of me - from Halloween of 2006. We've got another little girl on the way due in October.

Cool, I didn't realize this thread was here. Great to put faces with all the names! I'm Wendy, I'm a 38 year old therapist working with children with autism and related disorders, and currently also going back to school to get my masters in counseling. Since both work and school are full time, that's pretty much my life right now. :)

I don't have many pics of me on my computer, but here is one somebody snapped at work the other day......

Hi Darla, glad to see another new person, and a female at that! I love that there are quite a few women on this board, I was on a frog forum several years ago and was the only female there.

Your kiddo is a doll, I love that gap-toothed smile when they lose their front teeth! :D

I'm Nikki and have been into herps since I was 11. I started with a little male leopard gecko and it rapidly expanded from there.

I am 19 now and am proud to say that chameleons are my specialty but I also play host to many other charming creatures :) I currently have 1.1 jacksons, 1.0 brevicaudatus, 1.1 corn snakes, 0.0.1 rough green snake, 1.0 Russian legless lizard, 1.0 savanna monitor (one of my other fave groups- monitors, I mean), 5 unsexed juvenile crested geckos, a lovely house rabbit, a geriatric cockatiel, 5 baby button quail, a goofy white German shepherd and several fishtanks housing guppies, crustacea, a Senegal bichir, a spiny eel, gouramies, a puffer, some small fancy goldfish and a giant softball size fantail goldfish. I also have several feeder colonies including dwarf hamsters, madagascar hissers, false death head roaches, crickets, Indian walking sticks, Australian prickly leaf insects, and waxworms.

It sounds like a lot but they are all my family and my main hobby. I am also into kayaking, powerising (aka bocking), various arts and crafts and reading a ton of books. I am a barista to fuel my herp addiction (and, well, I really love coffee!) and my girlfriend is a recent biology graduate.

I get my username from my male Jacksons, Kenya, and my avatar is my dog, Kemper, with his pumpkin from last Halloween.

Also, on the rare occasion that I handle my chams, they seem rather friendly as if they have gotten used to me over the time I have had them. They ADORE climbing in my dreadlocks and will happily perch on my head while I rearrange their cages and whatnot.

Finally added me

I was surprised to find that I don't have many photos of myself that aren't somehow related to rugby... Either I don't get my pic taken at most other places, or I just really go to a lot of rugby matches. Anyway, here I am - the second one is with me (on the left) with two of my best friends.

(The 'My Name is Earl' shirt is not a reference to the TV show, but rather to the kicker for our local rugby team, the Gauteng Lions, and yes - those ARE the colours of the current World Cup Rugby Champions! ;))
