Wurma the Jacksonii

Yea his head looks like he's wearing warpaint or something...
The white on his side goes even brighter too and when he's letting me know I should piss off he can turn only his back to a near black shade.
It's all so pretty to see and something changes every time.

I noticed his tail and hind legs were lighter but he is not shedding skin right now.
It could be that he will shed skin soon again since last time was 2 weeks ago, I'm kinda expecting it since I think he's putting on mass lately.

I will see if I can look under his tail today...

In about 2 days the temperatures here should go above 20C (68F) again and night temps should not go below 14C (57F) so hopefully he can enjoy the outdoors for a few days.
His room is hard to get under 20C lately and even tho he doesn't seem to be bothered by it (he stays asleep when I shine a light in his eye) I think the cooler night and the sun will be appreciated.
I'm waiting on 6x 4.7" PC fans to make an active ventilation system on the vent that's in his from for the night times, if that doesn't work I will save up for a portable airco.

Beautiful Baby.jpg Here's one of my boys taken yesterday.

today i found her like this

the cat was in the room so she had to show off i guess

it may be a bit early to sex but I did not see the balls on the tail so i'm guessing it's a she...

cool thing is she actually turned lighter when she was on my hand so I think it's nota stress full experience for her to be handled.

"the cat was in the room so she had to show off i guess"...I bet she was thinking the cat was a potential predator.

"she actually turned lighter when she was on my hand" COOL!

Soon I will start building a frame where I can place my 2 mesh enclosures in. I'm planning to hang it from the wall.
The two enclosures will be next to each other with a piece of board in between.
I'll probably use 1 baskingspot for both enclosures and a UVB lamp for each enclosure.

Currently I'm having issues with my glass enclosure since I put more water in than goes out so I have to manually drain.

I'm also keeping an eye out for a second hand airconditioner... The only problem with most airco's is that they go to 61F or 64F where I would like to have it go a little colder, like 59F...

Anyways my wife said that if I wanted to give breeding a serious thought I should just keep the room clean... Yea... i'm sloppy...

I will have the following:
1x 18x18x36 mesh cage for a female
1x 24x18x36 mesh cage for a male
1x 24x17x38 glass for the offspring

I love your new avatar!(y)
Thanks!

I need advise btw...
I'm looking for a mobile airco to take care of cooling at night...
I found a cheap 2nd hand one in a pawnshop but it only cools to 18C ... I figure 18C is better than icepacks but I rather have one that gowslles colder.
Other airco's mostly cool to 16C, I haven't seen them that go below that yet...
Do you think I should get the 18C AC?

I will keep looking for a bit but don't want to wait to long.

I can't put Wurma outside because it's warm for like 2 days with lightning storms at night and it will cool back down after. I don't want him to have stress of moving for just 2 days...

I'm now running a humidifier past the icepacks to cool stuff down... But I want a more permanent solution.

I will probably buy the Eurom Polar 7000...
It's a mobile airco that has a thermostat that goes to 16C...
It's probably noisy and crappy in performance but the room is small so it will probably do OK for it's purpose.

Awesome!
I love it when they are colored like that...

I've ordered dubia roaches... It will be a new addition to wurma's diet.
Figured I could feed the jong ones to her and the adults to my acanthuruses. I will breed them even tho my wife is disgusted by them.
I also move her to the new terrarium tomorrow as I can then move her outside in her enclosure and she won't have the stress from moving as much allowing me to move her outside even when it's good weather even for a shorter time...

This is probably the most colored I've ever seen Wurma... Lots of red.

Noticed a couple of times that he goes near the bottom of the enclosure, not all the way on the ground tho...
I didn't notice him do that before so I'm keeping a closer eye.
I've heard they like the Scindapsus or Epipremnum plants which is the plant he goes lay on so it may just be a preference thing or he's looking for a cool spot.

He is still lively and alert and eats as normal so I'm not getting to worried. I put him under his basking spot and he grabbed a cricket that was running lose straight away.

Nice picture! It's fun to watch them grow when they are young because there are are so many unexpected surprises in their appearance and behaviors from day to day.

As far as Wurma going to the bottom of the enclosure from time to time, you are right that he could be looking for a cooler spot or enjoying his favorite plant or he could simply be exploring his space. You are right to keep an eye on him but he looks very healthy. You seem to have a good handle on your little guy/gal. Keep it up!

I'm happy he looks healthy and I really want to keep it up.
I put good amounts of time in my little Wurma, much more than I ever had to for my acanthuruses or any other reptile I've owned. But that keeps the hobby more fun too.

I had to postpone his move to the new cage since I could not find a big enough tray to collect the water.

I will buy wood tomorrow and build a frame big enough for both enclosures and I will make that watertight... So few more days in the glass terrarium.

I got lucky and found a Ficus (that was already cheap) with 50% discount, it's almost as tall as me so that will make a nice plant for Wurma to shower in.

The little guy is doing a good job at growing up, I expect him to shed skin any day now as he grown quite a bit.

Worked on a frame for the new cages this weekend, I will probably hang it tonight and then move Wurma to his new home where he will have more ventilation and will get more and longer periods of rain.
Wurma also got to eat dubia roaches for the first time... Well I don't know if he at them since he didn't want to take them when I tried to handfeed but I put quite some in a dish and they are all gone... So either they escaped from the dish or Wurma ate.

I baught 100 adult and 100 small roaches and I will try to breed my own.
My Acanthuruses eat the adults and Wurma eats the babies.

Almost ready to move Wurma... The silicone is drying and should be ready in 24hr... Then I'll just have to see where the water runs and drill a hole there for the drainage...

I'm pretty happy with the result, I will hang lamps from the ceiling and tie the rain system to the frame... There should even be enough room left to fit the humidifier.

and yes that is a hometrainer and no I don't use it.
