My 5 month old veiled had a vitamin a deficiency and he started closing one eye or the other. After a couple weeks he was closing his eyes for longer periods of time.

Could you post some pictures? I could be a vitamin a deficiency but you seem to have the correct supplements.

The next steps would to make sure that you have the necessary resources, space, and time to buy and care for another chameleon. After that decide if you want another veiled or another species. If its another do more research how care for that other species would differ from your veiled.

Ya I kinda agree about the ficus thing, umbrellas are more hardy but pothos seem to grow like crazy which is a good and bad thing.

I have a 5 month old veiled chameleon and he has a URI im fairly certain you would be able to hear it, but keep an eye out for that. I would check your temps again because that is the other most likely cause.

Have you heard any wheezing or heard a popping noise when he gapes? Or seen any extra saliva. Those can a be symptoms of a respiratory infection.

Does he look dehydrated? I have heard baytril can be hard on their kidneys so I would make sure that he is well hydrated. Can you post a picture.

I would recommend not buying a waterfall because they are a breeding ground for bacteria and chameleons do not generally drink water like that.

It would be fine for her to spend a few hours in her big cage. While she is in there you may want to check on her to make sure she isn't doing anything weird.

I'm jealous I wish I could take my chameleon outside :D

I think that it would be fine to let her play in her big girl cage. I don't know if she would get used to it but it would be some good exercise. How old is she and how big is the cage? Regards, Nate

How long are you keeping your lights on? Sounds like you are doing things right what type of lights are you using? From what you described he was probably sleeping. My chameleon usually starts to sleep 20 minutes before his lights go out for the night and he is fairly hard to wake up once he...

Thanks, He is still occasionally closing one eye but his appetite hasn't been affected. I have been trading emails with my vet and he said that he will do a check up with him in a few weeks if his eye is not better.
