JJ just noticed his girlfriend next door.

He hatched in February (not sure exactly what day), so about 8 months now. He never had so much color and stripes on his face until yesterday, and after we took him out and put him back, the color stayed! It's still there today! He looks like he had a growth spurt. :D Thanks, he...

JJ just noticed his girlfriend next door.

We took JJ out today. We didn't expect him to get so fired up over his neighbor (he doesn't normally get to see her, and has never shown a response before).

    Kingsnake Juvenile won't eat.

Ah, I must have missed that. We tried yesterday but it didn't work. He may just be not hungry enough yet. I'll try again.

    Any Vegetarians on these Forums?!

I don't think we can blame fast food or big businesses for the obesity epidemic any more than we can blame bacon. I can easily go to any fast food place and get something reasonably healthy, and even if I ate fast food daily, I could fill in any gaps with a good foods at other meals. It's not...

    Kingsnake Juvenile won't eat.

I thought it was orange and yellow. Hubby's snake is grey and black and red/orange. The vendor at the Sac. reptile expo said it had eaten already, but we didn't ask for any proof. Thanks, I will look into this. We have had him for two weeks now, at what point should we force feed? I...

Who here quit or is in the process of crossing over...

After smoking for about 7 years, at the worst of it I smoked almost 2 packs a day. I quit 10 years ago this month. I should have a smoke free anniversary party or something. I tried the gum and patches but went cold turkey the last time. I'm healthier and stronger now in my 30's than I ever...

    Kingsnake Juvenile won't eat.

I think so, it's my husband's pet so I didn't personally do much looking into his care. He's got a heat pad and light on one side of the tank and paper towels on the bottom. It's a grey-banded kingsnake. Thanks, that looks like a good idea. I'll give that a shot later today.

    Chomp Chomp

Just a tupperware, eh? I may try that. They have a funny way of sitting still for a moment then taking off at high speed. I imagine the trick is to wait until they settle on a spot for a moment.

    Chomp Chomp

ugh! We had at least 20 dragonflies hovering on the lawn the other day. I couldn't catch them, they were just too fast! Maybe I should get myself a net.

    Kingsnake Juvenile won't eat.

So my hubby's new little snake has been with us almost two weeks and he hasn't eaten yet. I'm a little worried but I think two weeks isn't long enough to panic. We keep offering pinky mice and he's not interested. I even rubbed one on the bearded dragon because the scent is supposed to spark...

    Vet transport info needed

I transported JJ in a small plastic shoebox size container. I put a towel in the bottom and along the sides to cushion in case I made a sudden turn in the car and for him to hold on to. He didn't particularly like it, but I don't think there's any safe way he would have liked better. I hope...

Problem with goop in eye. Infection? Something else?

I'm not sure if rubbing an eye with anything is the safest idea. The goop in this case can harden and coat the eye, and in that case we would be rubbing a hard object against the eye, potentially scratching the cornea, which could lead to more problems. A rinse is always less risky. Of...

Problem with goop in eye. Infection? Something else?

No problem, I'm glad to help. Sorry I didn't find the link for you, I was in a rush to get out the door. I did rinse more than once a day if it looked like it was needed. Just squirt into the eye until the lens looks completely clear and there's no white goop or hazy coating. My JJ's...
