If you don't have the time to mist a couple of times a day then it would be great. If you have time and don't mind taking 30 seconds out of your day hand misting is definately cheaper! I have 23 poison dart frogs that require 80-90% constant humidity and I still hand mist. Doesn't take that long...
My female prefers to eat crickets from a bowl (she's quite lazy) and my male prefers to hunt them down. I think it's whatever works for your specific chameleon. He won't touch anything in a bowl.
I use 5.0 24" bulbs and dome fixtures for basking bulbs. They do great. One of my custom cages is 4ft high. Every cham I have prefers to be high up in their cage so distance has never been an issue. I would be worried that 10.0 may be a little overkill.
