Cuban knight anole hatched yesterday and it's so cute! This one is very fiesty, I opened the deli cup and he jumped and bit me, lol! And right after I put him in his cage he started doing head bobs at me too:) Such a little cutie!

Here's a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdBtSXkpr48

This is when I found him in the incubator

There are plenty of them in south florida, you know a bad storm is coming when they climb down from the tree tops to the ground lol.

That's a good looking baby though :D

That's some adorable baby!

I have an adult male Cuban Knight anole that I've had for a few years...he still "threatens" me from time to time.

I also have a prehensile-tailed anole....his personality is very similar to the Cuban Knight Anole's...but he has finally decided that its okay to eat veggies and fruit and greens from my hand when offered them.

Thanks! I thought about getting one of those(monkey tail anole)but they are hard to find. I've never seen one in person, you are so lucky! All my CKanoles love fruit and do not hesitate when I offer it! I really gotta watch my fingers, lol! They are also all very tame too. I love them:) They are the only ones I trust to leave them roam loose in my house plants, leave my house and come back and they are still there.

Here they are in my fake ficus that's in my living room. I tried to write their names in red, not sure if you can read it.

I love these anoles! Hope you like the pics!

They're great! I'd love to have a tree full of lizards! (Well, I kind of do, with my brevicaudatus, but it's not the same...)

Amazing, I've never really seen many species of anole - great thread! I'm now very interested.. hehehe.

Syn the big anoles are very cool. Different in personality than the smaller anoles and IMO smarter. Cuban Knight anoles are usually WC in the pet trade from FL. WC they are stressed and defensive and most die in the petstore because they shut down(stop eating & drinking). Not many people buy them because when they are defensive they bite really hard and draw blood. This is why they have a bad rep, like the Tokay. These big anoles if you get them as a baby or better yet find a CBB one they get VERY tame and nice. All my adults I got as babies except for one that was half grown(juvie), I had to get her when I saw her, she wasn't doing well in the pet store. These anoles also need a lot of room. 30 gallons of space per anole. Bigger is better though. They will eat right from your hand, roaches, crickets, worms, and they love fruit! My anoles gorge on the fruit, they are so funny! I only give it once a week but when I do they keep eating pieces until their whole throat and mouth are full of fruit:) I do have to say though that once these anoles are tame and love being held they will want to be held or out of the cage all the time. This becomes a problem if you cannot hold them, for example go on vacation. I went on vacation for 2 weeks last year and had someone come over to feed and water my reptiles. Because I was not here to take her out and hold this one particular female I have, she climbed upside down on the screen lid(like she always does and then I take her out) and because no one took her out and held her she rubbed her nose raw trying to get out for the 2 weeks I was gone. I was really sad when I came back. She now has a scar (nose rub). These anoles get real friendly when you get them as babies and hold them a lot. If you want a lizard you can walk around with on your shoulder(everywhere,outside/inside,to the store), put down in your house plants that won't run away and loves to come out, then this species might be right for you:)

Last night I let the little baby lick applesauce off my finger, it was soooo cute!

OMG! Awesome! Yea, thats why I stayed away from the Cubans......bad attitudes and a bite worthy of a Tokay!! But CBB would be cool to have!

If u have more born, I would be interested in getting one or two from ya if u plan on selling!!

Ha Ha of course I'd sell some to you! I know you would take really good care of them:)

This baby is going to my buddy that manages a herp pet store. He's been begging me to hatch out an egg since last year when I first brought in my older pair of CKanoles. I drove up with them sitting on my sun visor and he was like what IS that! I took them down, put them on my shoulder and walked in the store. They stayed there for the most part until he stuck out his hand and my female ran right up on it and jumped on his shoulder. I told him about how the anoles were and I then set them on the open sign in front of the window. They just sat there looking around and we hand fed them insects:) They must have sat there chilling for an hour while I looked at all the new reptiles the store got in and played with them:) Afterwards I walked over to my anoles stuck out my arm and they jumped on me and we left. They are very cool lizards, one of my favorite reptile species. The only ones I like better are my green tree monitors:)

Getting this baby was hard though so I'm not sure how soon I'll get another egg. My problem is Godfather runs down and eats the eggs as soon as they are laid. If by chance Godfather does not get them then they are buried and I don't know where they are. If the eggs hatch in the cage the adults will eat the babies right away. CKanoles eat smaller anoles in the wild. Sometimes I also find eggs that have been eaten by crickets:( I feed crickets in a bowl but every now and then one escapes. How I got this egg is by chance. I just happened to go downstairs and the female was at the bottom digging. I watched her lay the egg and then I took it out before she could bury it. I have seen this one other time and got an egg a few months ago but it was infertile. I am thinking of maybe in the future when I see a female gravid I could put her in a different cage so I can collect the eggs and then put her back afterwards. What do you think?

Another cage would be an idea.....:p

My Green Anole was like that..would just chill and jump on me when I put my hand out...

Just checked and one female was at the bottom looking for a place to dig so I put her in a spare cage lined with newspaper and a laybox:) I hope it works. The other 2 females are gravid too BTW:)

You dont have one called 'Castro' or 'Fidel' ? :D
Awesome lizards, Nice color/pattern and Im struck by the sleek shape of head.
Bet they are fast too!
Very cool! :)
