My J. jack died today and I'm not sure why. The passed 2 days he didnt eat but was drinking but today he wouldnt eat or drink. He was also acting lethargic. I came home today and he was dead on the bottom of his cage. His tounge was stuck to the bottom but that doesnt explain his behavior. Any ideas?

How old was he? What were his cages humidity levels, what kind of lighting you use, how often did you feed him, what did you feed the feeders?...

age- about 5 months old
humidity- about 60%
lighting-powersun 100w mercury vapor lamp. It's on a stand about 8 inches from the top of the cage.
(I bought him when he was about 2.5 months old with his two sisters. They were in the same cage with a 25w basking bulb and a reptisun 10.0 uvb lamp. I moved him to his own cage with the mercury vapor bulb 1.5 months ago. I have 3 other chams with mv lighting and they're all fine. plus my vet gave it the ok.)
cage- 18x18x36
feeding- 8-10 crickets every morning. I dust them with Repashy calcium plus every day, flukers calcium with D3 twice a month.
I tried feeding him meal worms but he wsnt intrested.
I didnt handle him often, not even once a week.
we have ants right now since it's so hot. For the most part I keep them out of the cages. I dont spray any pesticedes near the cages. I put cheyenne pepper aorund the cages. would cheyenne pepper hurt a chameleon?

also, I feed the crickets cricket crack and fluker's cricket quencher. Again, my other chams are fine.

any thing you keep in the cage he could eat to obstruct his digestive path?
how was his droppings and urine?
can you post pics of what he looked like before he passed?

Sorry you lost your Jackson's.

Could be a number of things, I read some of your previous posts and it looks like your lighting, supplementation, and diet are all out of line. I saw on your previous posts that you had a 6 month old male around the end of last year that as not doing well. What happened to that one and the "gravid" female you had?

I personally would use a incandescent bulb in the 40-60 watt range and a reptisun 5.0 linear bulb. I would supplement with calcium no D3 two to three times a week lightly and a multi once a month. A varied diet for your Chameleons is important as well your feeders.

Having all things dialed in is very important to the long term health of your Chameleons. If you could provide pictures of your Chameleons and their set ups that would really help.

Action Jackson, I believe I said in my earlier posts that all my other chameleons are doing well. I dont appreciate the accusation. This is why I dont like coming to the forums for help. People on here are incredibly hyper-sensitive and quick to criticize.

If you want to know the reasons for his death, it would be the best idea to visit your reptile vet and get an autopsy of your chameleon done. Everything else is just wild guess as long as there aren't really big faults in keeping. I think it's always worth to know the causes of death. Especially left and alive chameleons could benefit from the results.

I looked at your older posts to see your history on the forums. I noticed that it seemed like you had some other problems in the past. Jackson's require specialized care and I hate to see some many people loose them. Just trying to help. Sorry.

Hmm "People on here are incredibly hyper-sensitive and quick to criticize."
