I have a wild-caught male graceful chameleon named Mischief who is about 1 year old. I got him for free at a reptile expo, because of his condition. At the time, his right back leg would not function. It would just drag along as he would move. I took him in, and started nursing him back to health. A few weeks later his other back leg stopped functioning as well. He can't open and close both back feet, let alone, use them at all. His front two legs are working just fine, and I often find him dangling from the vines. I took him to a reptile vet where I live, and he put Mischief on some antibiotics and gave him a shot of some as well. His overall health has improved, but he still can't use his back legs. The vet told me that kidney failure might be a possibility if his condition doesn't improve. But for now, he told me to keep an eye on him and keep him in a "handicapped" cage.
Right now, he is in a screen terrarium, where the plants and vines are low to the ground in case he falls. I also have a hammock set up where he can lay down and rest. Is there something else that I can do to make his cage better for his condition? Also, does anyone have any other ideas that could be wrong with him? He's eating very well, it's just his mobility that I am worried about.
FYI, the cloth in the photo is there because I just finished giving him a bath to clean off the substrate and his feet.
Thank you so much!
