Edit: Its coccidia

Yes, if wiping them away is good enough, can I use some soapy water and scrub with a toothbrush until and can use the peroxide, when I get it?

This is as far as I can help -- linking you to other threads. I have never battle coccidia so I am not sure. I would read the threads and see what other people have done. I do know they have used 40% Peroxide, so you probably want to do a combination of things. That thread I linked is long and very informative and will help prep you for whats next.

Our water gets really hot, probably in the 120-125's so ill make sure to let them sit in the hot water for a while.

As for plants, what do I do about those? Throw them out? What should I use in the meantime?

You can also mix some pothos cuttings in. I put them in a water bottle rigged not to tip and with too small of a mouth for the cham to get into. Toss them at the end.

Dont forget plain old soap, first. I put dawn dish soap in a spray bottle and do a wash or two with that and rub it in. That will help dislodge dirt and other stuff to remove it from the surface. Soap will remove a lot, leaving less for you to have to kill.

Just be sure to also clean the area WHERE you wash your stuff - with soap and disinfectant so you dont cross contaminate.

I will see if a place near me has some! thank you!

How often should I clean the cage during treatment?

The home depot near me (Maryland) usually has hanging baskets. If you’re anywhere near St Cloud / Orlando I have a friend who grows all sorts of cool plants and tropicals and sells them cheap. She def has wandering jew.

Hi hun. I am so sorry to hear this.... I was breaking down the cage weekly. You can get the 40 volume peroxide off amazon if needed. Or if you have a Sally's beauty supply go there. You need gloves as well as 40 volume will burn your hands. Get glasses to protect your eyes. Get the liquid formula. You will want to get a pressure spray bottle you can use just for this. Stripping the cage down to bare essentials. I tossed all plants since they eat their plants and this stuff does not die easily. Do you still have your smaller cage? If so do a rotate between them. Then you always have the second one for him and set up when you go to strip and clean the other week to week. I did hot soapy water and cleaned everything in a corner of my yard I did not use. Then rinsed. Then you have to consistently spray with the peroxide keeping it wet with it. I was doing this for 15-20 minutes straight every weekend. Then rinse thoroughly to remove the peroxide. Now each day since the cage is pretty bare you are spot cleaning any stool and urate from the branches and cage floor. Do not feed him off of any area that he could have contaminated. So if you feed from a cup do that or get the shooters gallery feeder run to hook to the screen of his cage. This way he can not poop into it to contaminate it. The oocysts are what get passed in the fecal matter. These are what you are trying to keep him from re ingesting or your risking re contamination while your treating for it. So since they like to eat the plants I would stick with plastic plants. He won't go for them the way he will the live ones. And you can not spray live plants with the peroxide to kill it off.

Now for everything else. I wiped everything down with bleach like surfaces of tables etc. You need to make sure your not cross contaminating anything. If you have taken feeders from his cage and put them back into the bin then toss those as well. Clean your bins if this is the case.

@JacksJill was my lifesaver during my ordeal. There is quite a bit of info in my thread as well and the link was posted here. I know you already found that but it will be helpful. Look for all of Jacksjills feedback in it.

Ask what the parasite load is.

I took everything out of the cage, wiped down the screen with hot water, cleaned the base with hot soapy water, cleaned the branches with almost boiling soapy water, scrubbed each branch with a new toothbrush, and dried all of it off with freshly washed towels, the contaminated ones in the laundry. My hands are so dry. He's currently in his travel bin covered with a dark pillowcase.

It will be ok... Wash all the towels with bleach. I would use paper towels in the future so they can be tossed. You will have to get the peroxide though because soap and water will not be enough.
