Face Mask

My uncle died from covid within a few weeks. It affects people differently, but when it does effect you seriously, its REALLY serious. They also dont really know the long term effects. Most of my family is high risk (maybe me) due to autoimmune issues. I’d rather be cautious then sick.

I’m also a total introvert so I was born for this quarantine business.

Obviously I'm sorry to hear that, Alexa had an uncle die as well. He was in poor health to begin with, but this was back when it seemed to be causing more problems. And really what is our option then and why are the people pushing for it so okay with protestors?

And okay if we want to just be cautious about everything, why weren't we protecting kids(they do die from the flu, but no one seems to care?)

And why can't we just social distance the vulnerable? Spend money getting them help from their homes and such. I'd be okay with that. I'm not saying let the weak die, but healthy kids and young teachers should be at school.

bc anyone can get it and be asymptomatic. For example a kid with covid who dosen't know he has it goes to the mall and touches railings and stuff.

Because people feel like the police/people being aimed at by protestors aren't getting the message if they stay inside and not protest. Then the government puts military to get people to go inside MOSTLY BC OF COVID. Most people think the govs there bc of the protesting but theyre acc just trying to scare protestors back inside. Thats what most protestors don't understand

That's why the high risk shouldnt be at malls then lol. Also, I may be wrong, but didn't recent evidence show that asymptomatic people are very unlikely to spread it... I'll have to look that up. If so, I'm sure the media is hiding it

I'd be so pissed if my kids were in school right now.

Edit, I mean supposed to be*

Oh it sucks. My son is in private school and paying full tuition. Last semester was terrible, hoping his senior year they have their act together. There is no excuse for a private school to not have a continuity plan for distance learning. They have had all summer to get it together.

Public schools are a different story, and they are at the mercy of the government.

It sucks for teachers who have to buy supplies out of their pocket - to now supply ppe and disinfectant.

The flu has a vaccine which is heavily used, and a fatality rate of like .1% in the us, annually, whereas covid19 is at almost 4% in the us in less than 6 months, with an upward trend. I was a skeptic in the beginning, but I believe we have a real problem. Just because no one you know was in that 4% doesnt mean its not devastating to the families that do. Especially not being able to say goodbye or be with them when they are terrified they are going to die.

But if laws get loose then covid would spread like mad. Imgine if gov said "only people under 50 can go to the mall" that WOULD NOT go down well with society

When you look at overall numbers, yes. Covid kills more, and in the past was more deadly than it has been recently. I've witnessed multiple high risk, pretty close to as high risk as it gets for respiratory illness, get over it just fine. Sure that's not the case fir everyone, I understand that.

The thing is, IMO kids are more important. And if you look at flu deaths vs covid deaths in young people it's not even remotely close. The thing that's weird to me is that everyone seems to breeze over that on the news, they only focus on the overall numbers.

What? It's already spreading like mad... and what are you talking about it wouldn't go by well with society, that would be better than NOBODY being allowed in the mall lol. It has not gone ever well as it is. Thatd be less restrictive than what they're doing now

I do think its good that some places take your temp before letting ppl in

Anyway guys, I'm leaving the thread. No hard feelings towards anyone. I think we all feel strongly some kind of way towards this and idt we'll change our views on it much. I respect that and believe in being able to be friends with people that may share different views. I don't want anything I'm saying to come off rude cause I think you're all great people.:)

Florida has gotten bad...really bad. Just about every patient I saw this weekend had been exposed. Several of my visits were deaths. Yes, it’s hospice but we had way more deaths this weekend than usual. We’re having to wear full head to toe PPE including N95 and face shields for ALL patient visits now and mandatory testing every other week in order to work. @jamest0o0 I’m glad your family has gotten thru ok, but I respectfully disagree with you. This virus is some serious sh*t and not to be taken so lightly. Even those who survive it, many are having ongoing health problems. It’s not ’just a flu’. Even if it only kills the elderly (which it doesn’t), someone has survived 80-90+ years thru wars, various disease, economic depression and everything else life has thrown at them, only to be wiped out and sent to their grave because someone didn’t want to wear a mask.

IMO, people would get less mad if EVERYONE was restricted to something more than if only a PORTION was allowed just bc of age and/or health. I would be pissed off if i was a 51 yr old wanting to go to the mall that has a 50 under age limit.

I guess agree to disagree. My gram was born in the depression and is german. She feels what's going on is like nazi Germany lol. Was class valedictorian and still walks herself through the hood everyday. Now I get that's not everyone, but that sums up how a lot of people here view it.

So how many healthy children have died from this?(serious question I haven't seen the numbers lately, I avoid the news as much as I can I think it's poison haha)

It's hard on line, but I actually pride myself on my ability to talk to people on politics without getting mad. It's understandable that we'd all have different experiences that shape our views. Nothing wrong with that. Just not good when it causes hate and divides.
My best friend and I totally disagree on politics but I love her to pieces (even though she is wrong, lol). It would be a boring world if we all agreed on everything and a small world if we hated everyone who didn’t share our point of view.
