Face Mask

No no - I was half joking... but the direct politics /name dropping will get it shut down. I learned this lesson by posting a silly political meme and name (that I didnt think was offensive to either party) and got a polite “talkin to.”
Apparently, that was mine. I'm glad it was deleted rather than closing the thread, though I'd rather it have been edited. I honestly didn't intend it as political; I meant it when I said it didn't matter to me who was in office. IMO, it's not (or shouldn't be) political at all. It's about science & math.

I thought other opinions in this thread were much more controversial and political. [shrug]

Putting a mask on a lizard...
So much for that experiment. I knew we'd have to be fast, so I had the camera ready, and Missus was standing by to hold him, but we never got that far... I held the little mask up to his little face for size, and he tried to EAT it—YOINK! (Bless his l'il lizard heart... ? )

Then commenced the tug-o-war trying to get the mask out of the mouth of a beardie who was trying very hard to much it down. Things got tense there for a moment, and I was perfectly willing to sacrifice blood & fingers to prevent his swallowing it. Fortunately, it didn't come to that. (Whew!)

We're not going to try that again. I wish I had video, but it's the same camera, and I was set up for a still.

Sorry, I guess I'm not cool with tying a cloth to my animal's face. Call me crazy! Now watch me get warned for language. Call my views on the pandemic whatever, but at least I'm not tormenting my animals.

“ Why is no one talking about healthy living? The first 2 leading causes of deaths are largely attributed to unhealthy lifestyle(no not all the time, but MOST)... so the third could be as well.” I’m pretty sure there’s been wide ranging local and national health initiatives for many years trying to reduce many of these things, “sin taxes” on cigarettes, etc. Most people say it’s their right and do what they want, or they tote guns around government offices whining they want to get their hair cut.

Locking up the vulnerable will not stop everyone else dragging this back to them and many of them will die. If my kids go to school, they won’t see their grandparents

Media lying or emphasizing some random case doesn’t disprove or diminish the danger of the virus

Deaths going up will depend in part on whether the local medical systems become overwhelmed. They are vastly better prepared Nationally than they were when this first came into our country. This matters too. Hospital systems have much better protocols and procedures than previously. Ours changed constantly as planned and reacted to new And future challenges

I am so glad your family member didn’t die, and if fact most people don’t, which is great. 95+% get the disease and move on after it runs its course, but it’s a more nasty combination of infectivity and lethality than any other infectious disease in our country or the world right now

There’s no treatment, no vaccine, no end in sight

Just saw this, I don't necessarily disagree with anything you're saying. So why lie then? I got lymes disease, I don't lie about what it did because it sucked without having to lie. So what's the purpose? If it's terrible which it seems to be for some people, why not just say it how it is...

@snitz427 I believe there's better treatments out there, but my wife is in the covid pod as I text this. She's not sure how to feel, but it seems like many people are getting it and recovering without treatment quickly(including my family members recently), but still popping up positive on the tests. You're right there could be future consequences that is a real fear. I'd also believe that it could just be that more young people are getting it and getting over it even if they are high risk.

I strongly suspect I had it - right when everyone “ thought” it was just cropping up in the US. I had a lot of the symptoms and missed a week of work - it was very similar to the flu, but with a sore throat, for me. I remember people joking I had covid... but I honestly think i (and many others) did, and just didnt know it.

I did get the flu really bad one year that had me in the hospital twice. It wasnt the flu, but complications from it. I ended up with bronchitis and pnuemonia, and was sick for like a month. I was extremely fit and healthy at that time, in my early 20s. It sucked, but obviously not nearly as bad as many are suffering. But i can understand how the complications can snowball from that experience.

I agree, we need clear reporting, and not from a news agency that profits off it. I watch the JHU info pretty closely, as not only is Hopkins local, but they’re world renowned as a hospital and school.

Unfortunately chaos and death is always exploited for political gain. “When there’s blood in the streets, buy property”. I’m a physician so I lean on the science to guide my opinions and actions, but I don’t have a political agenda. I certainly have political opinions and it’s impossible for that to not color my thoughts and actions, but I try not be swayed by the sensational.

The US dropped the ball this time. Most of Western Europe was very hard hit by the coronavirus, and they used very strict measures with lockdowns and certainly infringed on people’s personal freedoms to combat the virus and it worked. Pretty much across the board they are controlling the spread and emerging from the first wave of the pandemic. The US never let the first wave subside because we as a society were unwilling to allow it to happen. Much like choosing how to set up UVB exposure for your Cham, science is not political, it’s just science, but misinformation is spread all over the place sometimes due to ignorance, but often due to monetary gains, leading to sickness and death. This is no different, but the dollars and cents are in the billions to trillions, not to mention the enormous political power at stake. Groups of people will cheat, lie, and steal to gain or maintain money and power

And I can’t wait to see @snitz427 chameleon mask, so don’t lock the thread ?

I don't doubt that, not sure if you remember, but around feb/march I was in an international airport, lost my sense of taste and smell completely for a week. Also had bronchitis-like symptoms. It was very unusual, my kids had it as well.

So if anyone feels like saying, who here has young kids? And what's your thoughts? I'm not trying to throw the 'think about the children!' card in your faces, but I really do wonder if my kids will suffer one day because of what's been done with the economy. Or with school if things remain closed(no vaccine in sight). As parents, especially to very young kids, I'm sure you're terrified of this. I get sick of doctors, celebrities, etc talking about "we're all in this together"....

In late January my whole family and I had all the symptoms, fever pounding chest, aches & pains.....it went away in 10 days.......much much much less than pneumonia

The deaths each year are much less for pneumonia too

My comment was aimed at the bearded dragon.
Nothing was tied to any beardie's face. In the picture, it's laid across loosely, and I just held it up for size—no straps.

I am not a fan of it... Kinda like putting a dang top hat on them and having them have a fake marriage.
But you're OK with strapping on a pair of wings... :cautious:
OMG the cuteness overload is unreal!!!!! Wings like wings! This makes me want one just for the harness with wings :hilarious:
