Freak Accident!!!!!!!! Need Help!!

It sounds like she's doing well. I'm sure she'll get the hang of eating from close up soon. I'm sure it's hard for them because I don't think their vision is designed to let them see clearly up close. They definitely seem farsighted to me.

You're a good chameleon Mom.

Update

Still doing well..Roaming about her cage as she normally would..Still has not attempted to eat or drink anything on her own..I will try to feed and water her again later on. I just gave her some fluids to keep her hydrated...and will give the antibiotics later as well. :) her strength is still great, Things seem to be looking up for this little girl :) Keep your fingers crossed! :)

Update

Okay so it's been 4 days now...Everything is still okay, other than her not eating on her own..I've tried "Force Feeding" only a couple times..but she's a tuff one to break...I've gone nuts trying to figure out what I can do to get something in her "without stressing her out to much"...So Thanks to Lynda :) She showed me the "Bug Juice Recipe" Never knew it existed!!! So this is day 1 of trying that...I put a little bit in and thankfully she swallowed it, I was happy with that, I will give her more tomorrow. Im still giving her fluids along with her antibiotics. She's been alot more active, roaming her cage and such...All I need now is for her to eat on her own.. She's now back outside, getting all the natural sunlight, water & humidity that she needs. I will give another update later on.

Great news! I am sure she will adjust to letting you feed her soon and then she will expect it :D

How is she handling drinking?

Drinking..not sure  Thats what the fluids are for...I've also been giving her showers every night, along with misting and drippers..So0o she's bound to drink something with all that! I HOPE...ehh..But her eyes are nice and plump. I'll take some pics of her tomorrow and see what you guys think..

I'm glad she seems to be doing well. I agree that she'll adjust to the feeding soon.

Are you holding the insects with your fingers or tweezers?

I was asking cause they all lap water off the leaves with their tongues.

She will probably need fluids from now on. How and what are you giving her?

I have feeders in a shallow dish, but tall enough so they wont get out...That stays in there all day..When I get home from work (only 3 days a week) I work with her holding the feeders/holding the bowl...but she's afraid of everything and runs away...I think she's going to be a cham that will have to figure it out on her own...or maybe untill she gets used to me holding the dish for her..and then her figuring out how to get the bugs..it will take some time thats for sure.

I have a bag of Lactated Ringers...I give it to her Sub-Q "Needle Under The Skin" About 1cc A Day..Untill she gets better..it makes a huge difference.

I then ran and got my Digi Cam so I could show you guys!!!

Oh and also..I told you guys I was going to give the Bug Juice a try..I then saw that some keepers have used "Critical Carnivore Care" Just wanted to see what you guys thought about it?? I have some I work that I can get, but wanted to see what you guys thought first?!?! Any and ALL Suggestions are Welcome! Thanks Guysss!!!

Okay off to work...Ehhhh

That's wonderful that she has started drinking by her self...that's a huge step!!!
Hopefully she will start eating on her own soon. My fingers are crossed for you and your baby girl for a quick recovery :)

wow what an ordeal. sounds like she is on the road to recovery. the ones that you end up having to work the hardest to keep going are the ones you remember forever..

Awsome news Kshook!!!!:):):D

I bet she is healing with not just the meds but with the great amount of love and support you have towards your cham....its looking good..

Also keep up the "positive thinking!!" ITS WORKING!!!:):D;)

Thank you everyone! I'm very excited!! Tomorrow I'm off of work and I'm going to work with her on eating..So0o we'll see how that go's :) I couldnt be more pleased with her progress so far!

I would stay with the bug juice, chameleons are insectivores not carnivores. The bug juice is cloister to natural for her. jmo

You are doing a wonderful job with her. I think you will both make it through this.

That video is great! You just need to get her dripping wet! It's all good, right?

Did you hand/cup feed prior to "the incident with the tongue"?

While I find this idea hard to do, you seem like the stalwart type..have you considered crippling a cricket or two and releasing it to see if the can nab one when it's been slowed down? I'm thinking you might pull of the "hopper" legs so all they can do is walk.

I'm just thinking it she's used to hunting, she might not be as willing to accept the cup easily.
