I've had something like this on my veiled male last year. He was bitten in his tongue and it started infecting, then late rhe bit of his tongue too. The vet did surgery on him, but he didn't make it. Before surgery i needed to give him meds too and what helps if you wnat to just make him open her mouth is to take hold on her chin a bit, they usually open up, and then put a spatula in between. You can get those at a pharmacy, the vet usually uses them too.

Good luck with your girl, hope she makes it!

Eszzie: Thank You for your kind words and suggestions! I appreciate it! :)

Wow! Your little girl sure does have some beautiful coloration! Gravid and all she's a beauty! Her eyes look great too so doesn't look like she's dehydrated anymore so that's good to see/hear .. You really have come a long way the both of you I was really rootin' for you's when this thread first hit the forums, haven't posted much because I don't have extensive knowledge on the situation but I can tell ya I haven't gone a single day without checking up on her!

Just today I noticed my male panther Rojo (pronounced RoJoe) strike at a silky I placed in his cage. First was a longshot, dead on but the silky had a tight grip. It was a slight paise then pulled in his tongue, moved in a few steps and took a second shot .. Fail. By then the silky was hardly hanging on, just his back feet holding and his body hanging. Rojo moved in even closer for the killer blow and . . . Bloody worm still held on! Scared the hell outta me I feared for his tongue!

O'l Rojo got the best of him in the end, when I hand fed the little tyke to him =) haha I wasn't taking any more gambles, hand feed silks from now on

~*update*~

I brought my girl back into work with me this afternoon to get her checked out again...And Doc said everything looks Great! :) "Veryy Happy" Anyways..She called Dr.Funk in AZ..not sure if anyone here knows him?? But he knows alot about chams and herps in general...And gave my Doc some good advice/knowledge on what we should do with my cham...he said for her to take a look in her mouth to make sure the tissue in the mouth is all there and intact...Which with my wonderful luck..it was :) So0o no worries on doing surgery or food getting into the body cavity... we were going to do "A Simple Procedure" if it needed to be done..BUT is dosnt so were verry happy about that! Anyways...Everything so far is looking up for this little girl, which I'm super happy about. I got a new bag of fluids for her..were going to do 1.5cc every other day...along with the baytril .03cc once a day till everything is healed up. :) Our next battle is laying her little eggies!!! Ohh...and also she did not gain or lose any weight! I was Soooo Shocked!! She stayed right at 80Grams! Whhhoo Hooo!!

:)

Great news Kayla! Glad to hear that she is improving.

it is almost bedtime so I need to check in on how the 2 of you are doing. kayla you are doing a phenomenal job! I am soooooooo happy for both of you.:D

Thank You!

Thank You Everyone!

The support I've gotten here definatley makes a huge difference in the recovery of my cham...and the knowledge I've learned to get her to where she is now. I cant thank everyone here enough for everything and your support! I will continue to give you updates on her...things such as feeding on her own, her egg laying process...etc...

Thank You My Chameleon Family! :)

I'm so glad things are going well. She's a lovely little thing, isn't she? It's funny, but to me, she actually looks peaceful rather than unhappy. Most chameleons just naturally look unhappy (it's a trick of the facial construct). She looks very content. It's like she knows she's being cared for.

eliza: thank you for your kind words :) I appreciate it a bunch! this has been a long short road, if that makes any sense....lol and were finally on the road to recovery! yayy

Good to hear that she will not need surgery! I hope all goes well with the eggs. Try to give her as much peace as possible until she lays them. I know this will be hard with having to treat her and all.

Yeah, I've been keeping my distance as much as I can, I give her a roach in the Morning & Evening for now...And her Fluids and Antibiotics at Night to..then she has the whole day to herself. I check on her a few times though out the day just to make sure everything is okay but this i from a distance so she dosnt see me...still a little paranoid about not checking on her... ehh.. But I think she's doing alot better for me not to check on her so often...

Very glad this has turned out to have a good ending.
She's obviously got a good owner and a fighting spirit - Im sure egg laying will be no big deal compared to what has already been surpassed.

~*Update*~ With Pics

I thought I would give an Update on my girl Izzie since it's been a while...Everything is still going well, her activity level is very good roaming about her cage and her attitude is getting back to normal..."getting mad at me when I approach"' is more herself along with an open hissing mouth... :) So I'm guessing she's feeling alot better. I'm still giving her fluids..it's only every other day now, along with her antibiotic daily. I figure I'll continue until after she lays her clutch...Has anyone experienced any issues with giving oral baytril to a gravid cham?? Let me know if you have and I'll stop untill she lays. Anyways..Im still working on hand/dish feeding her..No Luck so far, but eats very well when I put the insects into her mouth, She normally eats them right away. She's continuing to drink on her own, which I'm happy about! All in all she's doing pretty well! Here's a few pics of her..let me know how she looks please??

Wow! Izzie is looking soooo much better!!! I'm so glad that things are working out and that she's doing so well. I'm sure she'll be eating on her own in no time. You did a really outstanding job with her! :):):)

Thank goodness!

Wow, that's great... so good to hear she is getting by and getting along with her lack of tongue... what's important is she is doing well and it seems that's the case so that's great!!
;)

She looks like a normal chubby panther. She is quite lovely. It would be nice if she would just pop the eggs out any time now.

It is wonderful how well you are doing with her. The eating on her own will come, but it may still take a while. Just hang in, get her past laying eggs then you can go back to getting her to eat on her own. You are getting there don't give up now.:)
