Freak Accident!!!!!!!! Need Help!!

I thought I would give an Update on my girl Izzie since it's been a while...Everything is still going well, her activity level is very good roaming about her cage and her attitude is getting back to normal...

That's great news! Losing a tongue does happen, and I bet it isn't just in captivity.

Just tell her that she gained a more slender, sleek chin profile now that there isn't all that tongue wadded up in her throat. Maybe it will soothe her worries about that fat belly. ;)

Thanks for the update! I am glad to hear that she is still with us! What a fighter! I hope she continues to keep improving. I know being gravid is the last thing you probably wanted at this point. Atleast she is in the best of hands with you thank god!!!

Thanks everyone for your awesome comments!!! It makes this experience all the better! :) I've done the best I can with this little girl! I'll feel so much better once she lays her first clutch of eggs and start eating on her own! :) But of course this will take time! But I've already started the process so lets hope she catches on pretty soon! :)

It's so wonderful to hear of a chameleon making a good recovery - she looks so beautiful in your pics. She must be feeling better if her 'tude is returning, lol! Well done with her - chams are so special and it's tough to see one poorly, but we do waht we can (and more) to help them. Sadly things don't always work out the way you would like, which is what makes reading your story even more amazing. Keep up the good work with her!:D

ha yeah you know she's feeling alot better if shes gets her "tude" back :) hehe...Yesss, I'm sooo happy that she's doing as great as she has done! I was a bit concened for the first week...and not wanting her to suffer..but then things started looking up! :) Now I'm pretty excited for her! Cant wait until she lays her eggs..after that I'll feel even better! :)

I love happy endings, I can't believe the tremendous care she's in! Honestly if it wasn't for your quick actions in a terrifying emergency and all your time and effort and love, I shudder to think what would have happened. She's an extremely lucky gal to have you at her side! She looks lovely in all of her pics, she's got that happy gravid glow about her =) keep us updated on how the egg laying goes!

Daguerreotype:

I most def. will keep everyone updated on how she does with the egg laying process! Kinda nervious about it, for her sake "Health Wise" but so far everything is good! :)

Update..

Just wanted to let you guys know..That my girl FINALLY had a Normal BM & Urate!!! Whoo Hoo!!! Now..She just needs to eat on her own...I'm open to all suggestions! I've tried to hand feed her "Holding Feeder In Front Of Her" but there was no response from her..she'll look at the feeder..then run away..ha..she's scared of people...I put her in a large dish..with some branches for her to hold on to..with a dish of silkies "in a little bowl", and Small Dubias running around as well..No luck with that either.. :( If anyone has any techniques on how to get her to feed on her own PLEASEEE let me know! :) But untill that day arrives I'll continue feeding her by hand...or should I not feed her for a few days..and then present the feeders?!? Ekkk...Let Me Know What You Guys Think?!?!?!

I have no basis of any kind for my thoughts, but perhaps she is trying to adjust to how her mouth feels when she opens it and there is nothing there. Sort of the way I can't keep from touching a canker sore with my tongue. You need to adjust to anything that feels different. Let's hope I am correct and it is just her adjusting to her new life.

Is she still on baytril? That is pretty hard on her unless she really still needs it. Just me, I hate to give meeds unless I have to.

I'm thinking this as well :) Hopefully were right. Yes, She's still on Baytril...It's been a month, So I thought that tonight would be her last night on it, her mouth looks pretty good.

Yeah, that doesn't look like normal gaping for heat or anything...I'm sure it feels way weird to her.

Hopefully someone who's had a chameleon lose a tongue will chime in.

Hopefully it is what you think it is. Just wanted to comment and say she looks great, especially for all she has been through. It's probably been as hard on you as it has her. You have done a wonderful job!

Thank You everyone for your comments! :) I hope it's just her tounge sitting funny in her mouth..I'm planning on bringing her into work tomorrow and see if were able to get any bloodwork done on her to see if we get any abnormal results?? And possibly do some x-rays to see if her lungs are clear or not?

Vet Vist Update

Hello All,

So I brought my little girl into work today. Dr says she looks GREAT :) I'm verrry happy about that. She's very well hydrated, color looks good, and her attitude is definatley back! We still have her on Oral Baytril, along with 1 1/2CC of Fluids EOD. So we decided to do a Fungal Culture of her Mouth rather than Blood Work, I get the results back tomorrow, Once I get them I'll be sure to give you guys an update. So far no eggs hve been layed...Still hand feeding her, I'm hoping after she lays these eggs she'll start to eat on her own "Crosses Fingers" But all in all, she's doing pretty well.

~~~Kayla
