HELP!!!!!!

Trying to show the difference in her eyes. Her left one is kind of shriveled and sunken along with not completely opening.

It definitely doesn't look normal looks like he could of caused a bit of trauma. But if that's all it is it will heal. She could be sleeping because the parasites aren't making her feel good.

She ate some crickets with wormer in them this afternoon. I'm hoping that's why she feels yucky and was napping. Does shedding making her feel bad? How long does it normally take an eye to heal and look normal?

This picture really shows the eye well. If you can see the dark on her eye and mouth that's brusing from the vet pressing so hard.

Eyes can take a while. Chameleons are very specifically evolved to pretty much rely solely on their sense of eyesight so their eye structure is very complicated. Depending on what got injured it could take a few weeks to heal. And it's good she's eating again, she was probably just stressed from the vet visit. And yes shedding is not fun, think of it like having a period for a chameleon. They get uncomfortable, itchy, cranky, often go off food.

God he did a number on her, definitely get another vet next time if you can, either that or don't be afraid to speak up about the way he's treating her. I would heavily misted her to make the shedding process easier. Maybe even give her a warm shower, that often relieves a lot of the uncomfortableness and could help with her eyes

Thank you! I've just grown very attached to her and want the best. I'm very upset about the entire vet situation and with her eye, then the day sleeing, and having to inject insects has me on the verge of a melt down lol.

Thank you! The worst part is he's the only one. I'll mist her with warm water to comfort her. I will say she had a beautiful bright green under her that I love!

poop spot LOL I have 2 chams that does the same , I put a small piece of paper towel under there SPOT just so I can clean every other day , my male poops about half hour after I turn lights on every morning and I mean every morning same time same place LOL
My horse does the same thing....has his spot. Makes mucking a breeze!

Are not almost all reptiles born with parasites?

Not as far as I know.

Dogs are born with round worms because as I understand it pregnancy triggers the encapsulated round worms to become active and they pass through the placenta into the fetus. It takes generations to break this round worm cycle in dogs. Chameleons don't have placentas (although I think there might be some species with rudimentary placentas) and both egg layers and live bearers have a shell put on before there is any development of the embryo. Yes, livebearers are really an egg that hatches at birth.

Loretta is having a good day! This morning I did away with injecting the feeders and was able to hold her, use a q-tip (I seriously love this forum and the information I get), and give it to her in her mouth. She was more than willing to open her mouth to hiss at me after making her bite a q-tip lol. I also gave her some water too since she isn't eating or drinking well (not very much just a little bc I know her windpipe is right at the back of her mouth). I also cleaned her house and redid her sticks and even built her a ladder (seriously you guys have the best information). She is loving the new set up and even though she hasn't ate, which I'm pretty sure is do to shedding, she has been drinking lots from her dripper. Her eye is also looking much more popped out today and it's opened a little more.

Their windpipe is not at the back of their mouth, it's near the front under their tongue.

At this point I really don't know what to do. Loretta no longer has an interest in eating. I see her drinking a little every now and then and her urate is ok but she's maybe had one cricket over the past few days. She's also sleeping during the day off and on. She goes to her night time spots and rolls her tail up and naps. She doesn't even get excited about the crickets her cage or pay them any type of attention. What should I do?

Have you tried a different feeder? She may need something else to entice her since she doesn't feel good. You also may want to consider taking her back to the vet, though I would try and find a different one. Where do you live? Maybe someone on the forum has a recommendation.

I live in Harrisburg, Arkansas. Jonesboro is the biggest area and closest too me. I have super worms in her cage as well in a bowl and she ignores them too. It took her about a week to shed and I thought she might come out of her slump from the vet, to shedding, and being wormer for five days but she hasn't.

How are her worms? Are they gone? what were they?
The worms are gone. I haven't seen anymore, but her appetite still hasn't fully returned and she naps a couple of times a day. I have noticed that some of the napping was her only having that one eye shut but the other was open so she wasn't actually napping but she does nap. Also today her eyes look a little dark and she kind of sucks the injured one in and out at times. Her poop is good, her urates are white, and I've watched her eat at least one cricket a day. Is it possible that besides from the get hurting her eye that the wormer made her sick and it's just taking a while to leave her system?
