Isis isn't pink

I have no problem with a small boy :) it's just a surprise. He was only a tiny bit bigger than the 3 month old I gave to my boyfriend (from a totally different breeder, mind you all,) so I'm tempted to say, if he was younger than 4.5-5 months, that he was three. He would still be small for a 6 month old, even though they can grow at extremely different rates (as shown in a thread just started by someone who has an extra small baby from his clutch and Laurie's little Smidge.) Who knows! He may never get very big or colorful. And maybe if smidge and him bred we'd make mini panthers... :D

Edit: Many members on here limit food intake for female so that they don't produce clutches or at least smaller clutches. No one has ever said he looked small before, so I didn't think it was a problem. It's not like he grew really fast even when I fed 12 medium crickets a day. He actually grew the most while eating every other day. If I had known he was indeed a he, I would have fed everyday as he is tiny.

I also haven't actually been active on here for 12 months. I've only been posting for about 6.

You only limit food intake in females when they are of breeding age not 2" stv

Read more post less, protect our forum from thread pollution:D

6-8 months isn't of breeding age? Again, no one has ever said that her size was a problem, and no one ever said anything about me feeding everyother day until now. Even if he is small (supposing he was a she) how often have you dealt with panthers that are only 2 inches snout to vent at 6 months? If you have, then I'm sorry. I don't think there are many panthers that are that small while being fed normal amounts at 6 months, so how do you know she couldn't/wouldn't have produced eggs? Or are you saying that egg production wouldn't have mattered as long as she was growing?

I guess I should of said receptive colors but you wouldn't know what receptive colors are when you have a male thinking it's a breeding age female at 2"stv

Is it necessary to be insulting, Todnedo? Pssh isn't some newbie with no experience. Not that I think being insulting to a newbie would be good...but to do it to a senior member is worse.

she is fairly new.... to the hobby and the forum... doesn't mean we need to be mean to her.... but she is a post whore... and all you gotta do is look at her post count.

She is great at popping in on every single new thread.

Todnedo has a point about reading more and posting less..... but maybe its more of a digestion thing.

Edit: wait she isn't THAT new... but she didn't start posting very much until a few months ago.... her post count per day is pretty high though.

No hard feelings. just.. i dunno talking.

Knowledge is knowledge either you have it or you don't, she was told a long time ago it was a male and didn't listen.

Her post count made her a "senior member not her experience!

It was suggested that he was female and that it had a feminine tail base. I didn't see you helping me out when you 'knew it was male.' If he was actually a she, and was gray and not peach/pink/purple, then how would i know what normal receptive colors look like on an abnormal female? I was under the impression that she was an oddly colored female.

I don't breed them and this is my first panther. I'm not good at sexing and NO ONE HAS EVER SAID HE WAS SMALL! Or at least not when she was still a she. Do you have anything constructive to say, or are you just going to continue to make me feel bad?

EDIT: I'm new to oddball panthers that don't grow as fast as they should, not chameleons. I post in threads where new people ask for help. I honestly don't have anything better to do with my day so I spend it here. I've been posting less if you haven't noticed.

I wasn't being insulting I was just stating the facts.
If I was going to be insulting I would have called her a "post whore":D

Agh, I'm hoping this thread will be closed soon. I'll let you all know how 'Isis' does in a while.

Pssh,

You questioned why no one said anything before and to be completely honest, I didn't read your thread before today. I avoid as many of your posts as possible, which is incredibly hard with your post count. A lot of the time I can't avoid it and I usually let you know about it when I find one of your posts. As has been mentioned, you try very hard to reply to every thread and its shocking to me that in playing expert for so long you hadn't figure out before now that you need to feed based on size, not age, and that this animal was very small for its age. Something you've been doing for the last 3.5 months is not right and you need to look at your husbandry and figure out what it is. Are your basking temps too low, are you not feeding large enough feeders, not feeding frequently enough, not feeding enough each feeding, not gutloading and supplementing properly or a combination of the above? The point is, it is not hard for anyone to see that your cham is under sized and rather then being annoyed no one said anything before, its time to stop giving advice to everyone else and figure out why your cham isn't doing as well as it should.

When I made my comment about digestion, I meant what Chris touched on below.....

Pssh,

Chris

I didn't mean digestion literally... I mean it in terms of taking in and thinking about the data you read on this forum. If you did read more and didn't post to every thread, maybe you could have had the thought process that would have lead you to your own conclusion of solving this animals issue.

Yes we all need a little help now and again. But, I think there is the story about a boy and a wolf that comes to mind.

I have gone back and looked at what I've been doing and it grew the most while feeding every other day... In the first month I had it I fed every day and he only grew like 1/4 of an inch or so, in the other two months when I fed every other day he had a bigger growth spurt and grew a good 1-1 1/4 inches. It's really odd to me... And I don't get it. Do either of you?

I'm going to start feeding more to see if he'll grow a little faster, and I've already raised the basking temp from 81-83 to 86-87 or so. I use medium crickets that are about 1/2 inch long and varying sizes of dubia that are never too big. The silkies and hornworms are never too big to handle and he gets about 1-1 1/2 inch long supers.
