"Natural" Forest Floor Terrarium "Testing" Build!

Somewhere I missed it but why did you decide to go with a false bottom rather than going with clay ball water table? Also how deep is your substrate in the "non" egg laying area? If they are anything like my geckos they will lay where ever they want and make you hunt  you might want to put that "laying area" right at the front corner so you can dig easier without uprooting everything.

Rob, these guys are gluers so they don't care for substrate. They may not come to the floor unless insearch of food. So the "substrate" is next to nill. It is simply a lightt layer of ABG mix and leaves!

The other plan i presented was for a future Pygmy project that will require a laying area that will not work with the current limited substrate.

Looking good! ;) sorry I must have missed it or something but what kind of geckos are you getting?

This will house 4 Lygodactylus williamsi Day Geckos! Eventually as they mature i will only house a Adult pair in here. The babies and juvies will be kept in a smaller grow-out enclosure. As possible other adult pairs mature they will have their own breeding enclosure also.

wow:eek: that is amazing!! great job, my son and I really enjoyed the pics of the build, he wants me to build one now but that wont happen for a while lol.
Great job man:D

Im trying to see if these kits can be made on the cheap for a regular 10g AGA tank. If you get a Terrerium conversion kit it would make a very nice kit for propably under $100 (less if you have a 10g tank already). I'll be setting up a 10g kit using a http://www.junglebox.net/product/300.html?Category_Code=VIV

Any link to where we can buy a kit? I've downloaded the instructions on how to set this kit up, but even the contact information on the brochure doesnt work... I'd be interested in seeing how large these kits come

Hey I got that url redirected and here is the link...

www.SelvaTerrarium.com

That is just a temporary placeholder and it will eventually have its own site, but it will take me a little while to have it up.

Well did the lighting today..Looks much better and lighting gets to the plants at the bottom just fine.

ExoTerra dual canopy with 2 ReptiGlo 5.0 UVB at the moment (one will be replaced with a household bulb for basking. And a 18" fixture with a growbulb (this was on my planted tank).

Spent the past 2 days testing misting schedules to get the right humidity..

This held steady with a 30 sec misting 4 times a day. The humidity sat around 65%-68% and the temps in the upper portion of the enclosure was close to 80* without a basking lamp, the rest of the tank was in the low 70's . This was also tested with a digital probe.

I like those little coffee plants. They really look like some kind of little jungle understory seedling growing up through the leaf litter.

Great mods another thing you can do is get airline tubing for aquariums split it down the middle so it opens up like a C and put around the door And they'll be nice and tight ;)
Looking great btw

You sir are a genius!!!! That would absolutly solve my problem!! Rep points!

Any more updates? When will you have the williamsi?
Not really, still waiting on bamboo! Plus i did a bit of drinking this weekend, lol. I just kept the plants lit 24/7 and watered. They are all starting to perk up. The Jeweled Orchid threw 2 new leaves and is starting to sprout a 3rd. Everything else is just there, but with time they will start to grow. I feel the most work I'll have is with the Ficus, it will need to be trimmed a bit once it really gets going. I should have some progress today later today. I have to make a pit-stop at HomeDepot for a lighting fixture and I'll check in on the nursery and see what's there i can use. Might be able to get some bamboo there too.

I really want to get some jewel orchids. I saw some pictures of wild plants and the brown jewel orchids looked really cool against brown leaf litter.

What kind of bamboo are you waiting on?

Some for branches or plants?

Just asking I found that lowes has both pretty cheaply. The bamboo i use for branches are in the outdoor/gardening section - plant stakes and are 6 foot long poles.
