Thanks so much! If tomorrow doesn't go well, I will have to do that, it's a 4 hour drive 1 way, would a chameleon be good to travel that long?

You can put them in a closed (dark) box and they fall asleep.

I drive a little over 2 hours with my guy for the vet. Like missskittles said, in a box and he sleeps the whole time. Does just fine!

Hi everyone! Here is an update after the vet!
Deanna Fredricks, DVM is who is working with him if anyone would happen to come on here and search her name.
He is 15” and 186 grams, he was 191 grams at his first visit in September
We went over my husbandry and care, and what’s been going on, she saw the goop is well and was gonna try to culture it if possible. She did an eye flush with a catheter to both eyes, no debris or anything came out. She noted he looked healthy other than the eyes and she also noted that he had mild conguctivitus (sp?) we left with 3 meds to do at varying times
Eye drops every 12 hours for 14 days
Oral antibiotic every other day 7 doses
Oral anti inflammatory every day 7 doses
I asked if he showed any signs dehydration or vitamin a deficiency, she said she couldn’t be certain about vitamin a, the supplements I use are right and if they were off it will fix itself over time.
I’m attaching pics of the 3 meds if anyone would like to chime in on any experiences they’ve had with them?
The visit was $146 and I’m going back on Dec 17 for a follow up to make sure the meds are working and he’s making progress.
I always hear people say they go to vets and never usually post prices, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The original owner covered the first visit so I wasn’t sure what she paid lol
I’ll keep this thread updated and would love to hear any stories of success or experience with these meds. Two of the meds I’m 90%’sure are the same, the antibiotic is what’s different this time.

Sounds like she has some good experience with chameleons, which is awesome. While I’m sorry that she found some concerns with his eyes, it’s a better result than finding nothing and there still being a mystery about it. The price was decent too. I’m really hoping this does the trick for your handsome guy. While he’s taking the meds, make sure to keep him well hydrated. Thanks So much for the update.

I went to him with Little Guy before he passed. Dr. Daulhausen was absolutely FANTASTIC. He knows about these forums and asked if I knew Asia! I know Milford is definitely NOT close to Cleveland but my experience, despite losing my cham (turns out he had cancer deep in his tissues... nothing I could have done), it's worth it. They were so kind and helpful and knowledgeable. And pricing was NOT bad at all. I got a visit and biopsy and I think I paid 200ish total. When he started crashing, I took him in as an emergency, and they gave him meds and fluids, kept him overnight so the doctor could keep an eye on him... Because he passed, they didn't charge me for any of that, and even did a necropsy to find out what had happened. Wonderful, wonderful vet.

Now that's a great vet. I'm so sorry he passed, but im sure you provided him with his best life. A Co worker of mine, had to take her mini horse to vet, it ended up passing away in surgery n still they charged her 6000.

My initial thought was, oh that's @Beman. I felt like those beautiful babies belonged to someone on the fourm.That’s Dr. Dayna. She used several pictures of my chameleons.
. I told the Vet the amount of guidance i've received from the fourm and how seeing a Cham knowledgeable Vet is important. The Vet was a previous Cham owner- she spent a significant part of the exam loving on Carmelo.

Hi everyone yesterday was Griffin's follow up appointment!
The appointment went well, did another eye flush due to more "goop" on the eye and some starting on right eye. She noted him improving a bunch in terms of activity and just alertness and everything. 2 more weeks of eye drops and 7 doses of the antibiotic, no anti inflammatory this time around due to him not having a ton of "pain" when looking around anymore and more just a squint when he does close it. They do have a sample of the eye build up and will run it in 2 weeks if this second round of meds do not keep progressing him forward. She also thought that maybe the reason this happened again from the first time around is that the medicine was stopped at this time last time and was never really eradicated possibly?
Regardless, going forward is always great to hear! He is at 182 grams now with the reduced feedings. Overall he is much more active in his enclosure and I've witnessed the hanging out and doing nothing with the eyes open thing so that's neat. He does still close his eyes later in the day and is much more willing to open them so they are still bothering him which is why she's doing the drops more and meds another round.
I also got my solarmeter in on Saturday from @Kboz1991 (THANK YOU) and my UVI ratings are all within range 3-4
Has anyone thought about how LumenIZE Pro T5 will change anything like UVI ratings? I have mine pre-ordered on lightyourreptiles.com along with a jungle dawn too
My mist king is a holiday gift so I will be setting that up next week, any tips on a reservoir that isn't a 5 gallon bucket? maybe one that is easier stored? Should I upgrade my nozzles to the premium ones?

Hi everyone, so while Griffin is improving he gets this discharge / eye booger that has been present since taking to the vet. She’s flushed it out twice with the catheter technique. It appeared to be gone after the first flush, but it re-appeared again in the last week and then I had it flushed again when we were at the vet on Sunday and then today while taking his picture I noticed it again on Sunday she did get some discharge, so I’m not sure if this is the same or keeps re-appearing anyone have any ideas of what this is or if it’s just part of the healing process or ways to assist and helping him get it out of his eye he’s been getting extended misting daily since initially suggested

Hi everyone!
Update on Grif, he’s been doing seemingly better as time progresses! He does still close his eyes but less and less, no longer closing them in pain after opening them. He does have some discharge in the one eye still but it’s not as big and he’s been cleaning his eye pretty well so im hoping it will keep improving to the point of being healed completely.
Since the last update I got my MistKing setup and running! What a great investment! I updated the probe thermometer on the basking branch to a dimming heat light fixture with probe thermostat! It’s been super awesome to feel automated.
I do feel like I am bothering him less by having the automation added to the daily care.
My LumenIZE t5 fixture and 2 jungle dawns are shipped so that will be the next piece of the puzzle completed for him!
Next goal will be getting drainage a better solution and dialing in the lower half of his enclosure better. Since he’s been better feeling he’s exploring more places so I feel the need to get the bottom half sorted and better setup for hanging out for him!

What wonderful news!!! Thank you for the update! It warms my heart to see these pictures of him, he looks so much better.
Let us know if we can offer any advice on drainage

Hi everyone, Griffin got a plant upgrade yesterday to try and fill out his enclosure more!
Some things I’m still experiencing with him, that are causing mild concern. He is still sitting with his eyes closed throughout the day, it is definitely LESS than before but he’s’ definitely still doing it about 50%ish of the time? He seems to have days where he will have them opened more than others. The left eye still has the clear buildup / film on the bottom of it, it moves around so it’s not like attached or anything. He does rub his eyes on the branches still, i have checked the UVI on his available areas it’s 2.7-4 depending on where he’d be at (brand new uvb bulb)
I’m not sure if I’m envisioning this but he seems to have a sensitivity to bright light and with the new addition of Jungledawn bars it’s either or more noticeable or I’m extra sensitive to it.
Is this pace of him recovering on par with what others has experienced with eye issues? His feces and urate all look good, I’m doing Earth Pro A every feeding but twice a month on 1st and 15th im doing calcium plus LoD. I have a thermostat for basking to ensure it’s not getting over heated set to 83. I have my MistKing running longer sessions still from prev advice in this thread.
One other thing is that one eye does appear to bother him more than the other BUT he seems to switch which one is bothering him sometimes? Weird.
I don’t know what having to the vet for the 4th time would do but I’m not opposed to do another one lol

I don't have any advice for you unfortunately. I do believe that eye issues due to supplementation can take a long time to clear up but I don't know how long. @Beman might be able to give you a general timeline for that.
I wonder if you can dim the plant light a little just to see how he reacts to it? Just a thought...
I will say though, that you are doing an excellent job with him and if he is improving even 50% that says a lot about his care and how well you are doing with him. Great job! You are an excellent cham-parent
