Urgent help needed with Lamp

What a wonderfull story! And what a awesome name!
That does ease my mind and gives me more hope!

It is refreshing to hear such good things about people wanting to help others and their animals. I have only been here for a couple days, but i can already tell the reptile hobby needs more people like them!

Good! I’m glad I could help in that aspect. Everyone here is just as welcoming and helpful as these two. It’s nice because different people have different ‘specialties’. While one may know a ton about veiled chams, someone else will know about panthers, someone else will know about egg laying, and others will know a bunch about temps and lighting etc… I’m always learning something new on here.

For sure keep posting and let us know what the bloodwork says. I’m with missskittles in that I hope he finds something minor just so you know what it is and there is no more worry.

Hello everyone!

Sorry for not updating you all sooner, life is kinda busy nowadays.
But i have the results of the blood work/test. And i have asked the vet to put in an email what she had found and said to me, so this is what she said.

On the CT scan she did not see any abnormalities.
Due to the large amount of inflammatory cells i had to give Rango the antibiotics.
The blood work showed that the muscle enzymes were high, that could be because of damage to the muscle.
A liver enzyme is high as well, but there is no clear conclusion as to why its high.
The uric acid is high as well, so his kidneys are beginning to fail...
She thinks the uric acid is accumulating in his muscles, and that that is the reason for his hanging arms in the picture, and also the reason for the high amount of inflammatory cells.

She has prescribed the medicine Allopurinol to hopefully get the uric acid levels down, and i need to give that daily for 30 days, which i can pick up Monday.
I also need to get him drinking, so I'm still spraying/soaking the leaves in hopes to get him to drink!

Also, since i have installed the new T5 lamp, he is climbing onto vines and getting close to the lamp. Is he trying to get close to the lamp, or just looking for a higher place?
If he stays there for longer he surely would develop issues right? How can i get him to stop doing this?

So you want to take those vines off the top of the cage. UVB does not penetrate through the leaves. Then depending on the UVB bulb strength you need to ensure the distance is correct from the screen where the fixture sits to the branch below it. Also can be much better if the fixture runs parallel to the branch.

I’m not seeing his basking light. Is it just hiding behind a plant or not there? If not there, then my guess is he’s gravitating towards the light to get warm.

The basking light is at the back left of his enclosure (blocked by the top left plant).
I really hope the treatment will work and get him back to his healthy self!

So plants can be higher but just can not block the heat or UVB fixture You want clearance below the fixtures down to the branch so the cham can get the UVB/heat it needs. Also with this being said. Chams naturally go to the highest spot so if your hooking plants up to the roof they are going to automatically go there.
