8 weeks ago i recived a batch of roaches which i gutloaded and tried to feed harry my 1year old male veiled cham, he had one off me but wouldnt eat them out of his feeder pot, so i went back to lose feedin locusts and putting morios in his feeder pot.
every other feed i would try roaches in his pot, which he would ignore the whole time they were there, only takin intrest in them when i hold them but still not eatin them. tried this for a few weeks and no joy so i went back to feedin him on his usual locusts and morios full time untill last week when he decided he wouldnt eat at all!
scince then ive managed to get him to eat a few waxies a day but that was 3 days ago and now he wont even eat those, his feeder pot always has food in so its available to him, he still drinks twice a day with no problems.
getting me very worried now , any ideas??? thanx

Take all food out of his feeder cup and wait two days and then only put 4 or 5 feeders in it (not roaches) and see if he will eat. At one year old you should only feed him every 2 to 3 days. They get bored with their food. I feed my guys 3 days a week.
If this doesn't work he coulfd have another problem and I would recommend a vet check up. Jann

He may just be slowing down his food intake on his own. They don't eat so much when adults. I wouldn't be too worried as it's only been 3 days - Lily wouldn't eat for a week to 10 days when she was gravid or receptive. Sometimes they do just go on a hunger strike for a few days. Have you tried silkworms at all? You can buy them here in the UK: http://www.butterworms.co.uk/index.html

cheers for that, i was startin to get worried. he went off crix about 5-6 months ago and now this! i use only 3 or 4 feeders in his pot anyway cus hes got a habbit of crappin in there now and agen!:) ill try doin that for a few days and let you no how it goes.
thanks for the link on the silkies, didnt no we could get them over here, what size would you recomend and are they easy to keep?

I just kept them in the square tub they came in. I did remove the chow that comes with them and feed a little bit at a time otherwise they grew too quick. I think I bought mediums for Lily, but it was almost a year ago now!

very sorry to say but i lost him yesterday, about an hour before the vets appointment

r.i.p harry :(:(:(

Aww, I'm so sorry to hear that. :( Having just lost my Lily a couple of weeks ago, I know just how you are feeling, and it is very hard. It does get better with time though.

im plannin on havin some more already, there very addictive. i was gona get a panther anyway cus ive got a spare setup but im gona wait a couple weeks first

That is great, sorry for your loss however.

I would check out some of your husbandry and see if anything could use some tweaking for your next addition. Perhaps you will have better luck this time.

Is that harry in your icon? He looks a little strange, though it could be the camera angle or low resolution.

yeh it was a crappy camera and he was only a few months old there to, gona put some newer pics up soon

important

My veiled did the same thing would not eat got sick and both of them died after i got them back from vet its been two days since they expired and the crickets that i got from a local petco was all they had in common i fed the crickets to some yard lizards that i have had since last summer when i got home today they where dead i think we are getting tainted feeders, becareful with your reptiles if they act funny get them to a vet asap i waited 4 days and it was to late.
