hey guys i just got a new veiled and the shopkeepers told me that it was a girl

i just turned over to look at it and i find it looking into the glass (temporary)
and swaying opening its mouth
it was swaying so vigorously!

shes really small...
only about 6inches
from head to tail

i found out the reason for being dark! its too cold i just put the heat lamp nearer and she lightened up well now im going to build a small temporary enclosure for her before my friends get me a screened cage..
are explorariums good?

Where do you live? Screened cages are best......unless you are in a very cold climite. Do you have a UVB light? What temp are you keeping her at?

okay well what i just did now was
got a bird cage that i didnt need and put some bbq netting around it which is like 1cmfor each square but the problem is that my thermometer broke last night..
and im not sure if i can get one any time soon but i guess ill have to seee
there is another problem...the entrance to the care dosent ahve enough space to put a tub for the crickets to go in
do you have any ideas of how to feed the cham?
i dont want any crix escaping...

i use a feeder cup tall enouph the crickets cant jump out, i never free range helps with less clean up and your cham will never eat anything it shouldnt. personally i would build a custom enclosure, cheaper for a heck of alot more space...

i guess im on a mission then

off to find a tall cup!

can it be a normal cup like a deli cup? or does it have to be big?

deli cups are recommended, must be id say 8" deep, i poke two holes in mine at the top of the cup and use a huge strong twisty tie so i can mount it anywhere and my cham can do the rest, then remove it when your cham is done and out of it and clean it well... try to put it below him/her or theyll sit at the side of it trying to get in, eventualy theyll get to go up and over but if you put it below them theyll get it right the first time. you can use about anything you like though for a feeder cup

okay thanks!
so only at feeding time i just put the deli in hanging? is that alright?

slightly off topic but are explorariums good for chams?

Hello Omegian

A chameleon will sway/rock, swell up with air, gape, and change to darker coloration when they are angry and trying to scare away another chameleon or creature that is bothering them. If you wear dark colors, get too close, try to pick her up when she wants to be alone, or if she sees her reflection, she will show that threat posture.

Dark coloration and lethargy would indicate that the chameleon is too cold or sick.

i have to add that she looks EXTREMELY stressed
shes almost black...or a dark shade of green
help?

hmm funny you should say that.... A lot of people on here say glass doesn't stress a cham.... sounds like first hand experience here.

You check out the site raising kitty as people are suggesting and putting her into a screen cage will do wonders for her.
